    I set the floats to what the factory manual called for, new float pins, and gaskets. Cleaned thoroughly and used compressed air tru the air passages. I am stumped

    Oh and then at wide open throttle I only get about 19 mph where I had 25-29 at one time I thought the plugs might be getting fouled at the initial start up

    I didn’t check the thermo valve didn’t know there was one. And it smokes really bad a first start up and lessen after a while but it smokes out 3 entire houses no mosquitoes here

    Compression is good in all cylinders & spark also. I am going to change the plugs but there not all that old. I also linked & sink the linkage. And the timing is spot on.

    I have very heavy smoke in the exhaust it’s brand new gas and proper oil quantity and with the air box open you could see lots of fuel flowing out of the carburetor I had them apart and set the float levels new gaskets, float & needle valves etc the only thing I didn’t do was touch those idle...

    I know there is a Signal I called CDI Electronics and they said to use a DVA meter and from the gray/Signal wire & ground I should have 8-20 volts I had 11.9 so the signal is there I am just not hooking the tachometer correctly

    I tried this and also reversed the trigger/ Gray lead and the 12v red lead both ways and nothing the black lead was ground

    So then “b” doesn’t get a wire, “g” is ground, and the (2) top center are the positive & trigger. I will try that.

    question when a reed valve goes bad will there be a tell tale sign, like how will a 6 cylinder act if one or two were bad. my engine has no mid range RPM with out stalling idle to 1,500 RPM & 2,500 to 4,800 RPM is ok, but in between she stalls, 225 mercury offshore, 1996 2 stroke, thanks bob

    I have a 225 HP mercury offshore outboard, and it idles good up to 1,500 RPM, and if you can get her up to 2,500 RPM she runs fine all the way up to 4,800 RPM, but between 1,500 and 2,500 she keeps stalling and really no power, every thing from the filler caps right to the primer ball is brand...
