    Exhaust pieces and parts

I'm sure glad you guys clued me in to the flapper issue. Here's a couple pics of what I found in the exhaust port of the transom, and after an hour and quite the string of 4 letter words what I got out. Also noticed a nut missing, quality work from the shop who resealed the outdrive just before...

    Exhaust pieces and parts

Thanks for the info. I'm fine not replacing the flappers, and it doesn't seem like there's a concern to fill the holes in the y pipe but to make sure the clamps cover them. Exhaust seems to exit down and out through a rectangular port under the outdrive. In my Volvo Duo Drive does it also exit...

    Exhaust pieces and parts

Parts diagram? I'm not having much luck on parts info for my 1996 boat. Any chance you have a source? Thanks.

    Steering leaks

The steering wheel and cable moves very freely once it was removed from the actuator tube, you would still replace it? And I didn't find much for replacement parts for the cylinder, including 5 star marines website, unless those seals are included in the actuator kit? And yes, I already...

    Exhaust pieces and parts

I have a 1996 Four Winns 5.8L EFI with a Volvo Penta Duo-Drive outdrive. I removed both elbows behind the water cooled manifolds (working on steering issues) to find in the down pipes under the rubber bellows coupler on the down (outward) side of the cast iron elbows, there is a steel rod...

    Steering leaks

I have a 1996 Four Winns, 5.8L EFI Volvo Penta Duo-Drive. I have removed the power steering actuator/cylinder assy from the boat because of leaks and hard steering. I saw in another post about steering issues there was a kit available to repair the actuator, and was looking for info on repairing...

    Power Steering Advice

The actuator is the shuttle sleeve that the steering cable attaches to, yes? Are the seals for the power cylinder also available to your knowledge? Mine pours oil like a seive. Like to reseal it all at the same time. Sorry about the hijack. Thanks.

    Trailer surge brakes

Ordered new wheel cylinders, got it all working. Turns out my single side wheel cylinder type brakes only have about 20% braking in reverse as they do not self energize like they do going forward so I probably could have just replaced the surge brake unit and not worried about the free backing...

    Trailer surge brakes

Yeah, if I wanted to wire my truck for a reverse lockout or swap the brake assemblies out for free backing units. I didnt find any replacements with a mechanical lockout like the atwood. I will pop the wheel cylinders apart to inspect condition. Thanks.

    Trailer surge brakes

So the chevy kit had a piston that would require filling in the recess for the plunger or machining the old piston to accept the lip seal instead of the old o ring which is what I did. The cylinder cleaned up pretty good with some honing. Didn't get any info on it but I welded a clip to the end...

    Trailer surge brakes

Hmm. I found some parts for the Atwood. A chevy kit, and a VW boot. I dont think I've ever had a brake cylinder fail that I rebuilt, but this is a new one to me. I like the reverse lockout on the Atwood, replacements either require rewiring my truck and trailer or purchasing some kind of...

    Trailer surge brakes

I found specs for a replacement that is an 85830 with dimensions 8.25 x 11, pretty close to what I have but not available anymore. I found a kyb that has lengths of 7.67 X 11.61, ring bottom, stud top part 343158. The titan part seems much shorter. In fairness I can't see anywhere near that much...

    Trailer surge brakes

Yeah, I could do that, and might if I can't find the correct one. Here's a pic.

    Trailer surge brakes

All 3 for the titan. Eyes on both ends. The Atwood has an eye and a stud. Thanks for looking. Anyone have any luck with an Atwood replacement?

    Trailer surge brakes

Hello all, new to the forum and Four Winns boats. I am working on a new to me 220 Horizon. Have a kit and boot ordered for the Atwood surge brake master cylinder, but I need advice on the brake line for the removable tongue. It looks like it should have a clip bracket welded to the rearmost part...
