    Thank you, yes I am familiar with resistor plugs and wires. Never heard of “Q suppressor” unless that’s just a term coined by Champion. My 2nd hand Evinrude had NGKs in it which I’m pretty sure is a resistor type.

    Thank you for the contribution but i am not sure i can reference yamaha’s system to diag. my evinrude. I did buy a seloc manual so hopefully it will have some more specific details. Such as spark plug type, and gap.

    Okay Top Hole is 145 lbs Bottom Hole is 140 lbs Tested coil at 3/8 gap. Both passed. Went to 1/2” gap. Both passed. Bottom plug was lighter than top one. Maybe too lean. Top was nice and brown. Both looked dry. See pic Still trying to determine why it may have cut out…

    Ah i see now. Under Exhaust Housing & Stern & Swivel bracket. Thanks. Thought it’d be with the tilt assist. Now how do i go about testing the VRO and also low/no oil warings

    I have a ratio rite i use for my bikes. Mixing to me is not an issue. However i want to keep the system intact if it is dependable. I read the 80s units are not as dependable as the 90s units. Not sure if this is accurate or not. If someone could advise how to test the system, that would be great.

    A few more questions, if i may. Is the VRO worth deleting? I would rather keep it in place. Is there a decent service manual available? Is there a good online source for parts? I would like to avoid dealers/counter persons type places if possible. Nothing local anyways.

    Thank you. I do have a tester and will test coil. I can check compression too. How do I test VRO? Lower unit oil, i’ve already changed. I plan to do the impeller next. I wanted to run the boat once first.

    Thank you. First, it is oil inject so idk the ratio. Also, could you define VRO? Impeller has not been replaced, although there is a extremely healthy telltale. Also compression has not been tested as motor runs and sounds extremely healthy, so i think Step 1 can be skipped, this time around...
