    Is any exhaust supposed to come out of Pre Alpha outdrive other than from the prop?

    I have cooling water and exhaust coming out of the outdrive just behind the transom on both sides of the outdrive at about 4:00 and 8:00. Since it's coming from both sides I sort of think it's supposed to, but I'm not sure. First boat, first I/O. Monte

    Merc 470, makes it a ways from the ramp, but can't make it back. Get 2000 rpm max...

    Hi, new to the forum. Just bought a 1980 Glas Ply with a Merc 470. The Merc 470, makes it a ways from the ramp, but can't make it back. Get 2000 rpm max... I've been away from the ramp twice now and had the engine loose rpm's. End up getting about 2000 rpm max all the way back to the ramp...
