    225 EFI won't start

I have a 1998 Mercury 225 EFI on my bass boat. It's always been a good reliable motor for me. I was going to go fishing this afternoon so I got the boat out and hooked the muffs and garden hose to it. Battery was charged overnight and I cleaned the cables because I know these motors can be picky...

    Rigging outboard question

Ok thanks for the info. Is this fairly easy to do? I have the tools needed for bolting on the motor but I'm a little afraid I won't get a good seal...the bolt head and washer on the inside of the boat isn't my worry but getting silicone under the bracket around the nut on the back seems hard to...

    Rigging outboard question

I'm about to put a little bit newer motor on my old fiberglass bass boat and I'm going to try to do the rigging myself. It's a '04 Mercury 60 hp. I have an engine hoist in my shop and plenty of tools. My biggest question is sealing off the transom to keep water out - does regular silicone work...

    12v to 24v trolling motor???

I'm not sure what gauge the wiring is but I'm pretty sure the boat originally came with a 12v trolling motor. It's a 16 ft boat and the wiring runs from the front to the back...and yes the trolling motor has its own battery, it's in the rear compartment.

    12v to 24v trolling motor???

My boat came with a 12v trolling motor but it recently locked up. It's pretty old so I was thinking about going with a 24v trolling motor. Will the existing wiring handle the 2 batteries ok? I'm planning on connecting cable straps from the existing battery to the new battery to tie them...

Mercury 60 HP 4 stroke latch problems?

I just got a 2020 Mercury 60 HP 4 stroke outboard and after I put the hood back on, I CANNOT get the rear latch to latch. Looks like it should just slam shut but it won't. Yes, the front latch is in place. Help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Bearing buddies full of grease???

The question was if the buddy looks full by looking at the picture...the piston only moved a little before I quit pumping, am I good to go?

    Bearing buddies full of grease???

I recently installed bearing buddies on my boat trailer. I pumped grease in them with a grease gun until I seen the piston move outward...but as soon as I seen it move, I quit pumping. Was I supposed to pump more? I have pulled the trailer about 250 miles since I greased them. Should I pump more...

    60 HP 4 stroke hood won't latch

My dad's boat has a 2019 Mercury 60 HP 4 stroke outboard. The rear hood latch WILL NOT latch. We haven't had this motor long but isn't it supposed to latch by slamming the hood down into the latch??? Anyone else had trouble with this on these motors??? Thanks.

1998 Mercury 225 slipping at high speeds

When you say trim out, does that mean trim up a little more?

1998 Mercury 225 slipping at high speeds

No because the last time it did it, it jumped to the opposite side.

Adding fins to a 50's 60's vintage boat

Thanks for the info. The main thing I wonder about is being able to make them both the same (the pair) - like a mold would almost be needed. I'll do the research on YouTube 👍

Adding fins to a 50's 60's vintage boat

I have a 1961 vintage runabout Crestliner inherited from my dad...there's a lot of memories in this boat. I have it mostly restored. It's red and white - I always wished it had fins like some of the Glastrons from this era. Here's a question just for the heck of it...anyone here ever added a...

1998 Mercury 225 slipping at high speeds

Yes there's a transducer at the stern - no power poles

1998 Mercury 225 slipping at high speeds

The rear is shooting to the side, not forward...and it's a 225, not a 200. I'm running it normal and gently, not doing anything out of the ordinary...I'm not even quite full throttle when it usually does it. It's not a chinewalk - the rear suddenly jerks to one side while driving straight down...

1998 Mercury 225 slipping at high speeds

That's just what the guy at the boat ramp called it, a rubber washer, but he was only guessing...I have no idea. The boat doesn't have a jackplate. I notice it at about any trim setting, especially a higher trim setting which everyone rants about giving the boat a better ride...maybe I should...

1998 Mercury 225 slipping at high speeds

Motor is a 3.0, not sure about offset and height, has a 4 blade prop. It's the original motor that came on my 20 ft Ranger bassboat.

1998 Mercury 225 slipping at high speeds

I have a 1998 Mercury 225 EFI on my bassboat. When I almost get to full throttle, driving straight down the lake, the stern of the boat suddenly slides to one side a bit. Scares me every time lol. A guy at the boat ramp said it could be a rubber washer missing at the prop??? Not sure what he was...

25hp to 35hp with carb swap???

I have a 1989 Johnson 25 hp and the weight of it is perfect for my little 14ft 1961 vintage runabout. The boat originally came with a 40 hp so I wanted to ask if it's true that all it takes to make my 25hp a 35hp is the carb? Yes I know I won't be able to tell much of a difference - only 1-2 mph...
