    77 johnson 35hp starter?

    i was wondering if the gear at the top of the starter moves up and down, or it stays put and the inside engages? when i try to start it i noticed the the gear doesn't move like others, it stays with the flywheel.

    77 35hp start switch wireing

    i am now fixing this engine, but it did not come with any controls or such. I'm trying to put a key switch to get it to start. i have five wires and don't know what switch to get and how to connect them. purple/white- white- red/purple- black- black/yellow- thanks luis
