    both purple wires are connected to the ignition switch...What a mess of wires under there. I'm going to start cutting zip ties and dive in.

    yes engine starts and stays running. had problem keeping running after turn over..found one of the 2 purple wires disconnected from ignition switch..but now no power to guages.

    after troubleshooting and getting my engine to start now I have no power to the gages on dash. anyone got a guide to fuse box or know if it's an inline fuse. 06 mercruiser 0w656261 4.3 tks

    got the breaker off and found that little yellow lever...THAT WAS IT.. I couldn't see it until I pulled the breaker off the mount.. Thanks a bunch guy's..I learned a lot and sure appreciate all yall input.

    no power across 50A breaker and 12v on orange wire at alternator..I guess I need new breaker?

    I sure appreciate all the help. I'm waiting on a power probe from Amazon to be delivered so I can do some testing. I'm learning quite a lot from the manual and all the advice.

    no I didn't really find where the smoke was coming from. I just assumed it was starter..the smoke did not smell electrical though. no ..I assumed it was starter..the smoke did not smell electrical though

    06 4.3 mercruiser 0w656261. I was working on idle adjustment, starting and stopping engine. Started engine and notice some smoke from engine area, went to turn off and notice key was hung up in the start position. turned off engine and would not start again. replaced starter and it still will...
