1985 StarCraft Islander 221v fixer upper.

I will build the new transom out of wood , but use aluminum for the knee braces. I plan to attach the braces to the stringer drives mounting stringers , they are beefy. In reality the support for the bracket will all be from those stringers just as the previous motor and outdrive were. after I...

I have been debating that, If I turtled her I would definitely polish the bottom. I know it seems a lot of work , but I turtled my 18 foot Crestliner, it wasnt that hard. and it was way easier to sand and prep .I took that time to redo the trailer at the same time. Thanks for the link to...

I was thinking ahead and started contemplating my paint job. Has anyone ever polished that bare bottom on one of these, lol. it would be a huge job and not at all worth it if it dulled up in a couple years, lol. Maybe there is a clear coat I can spray ? or maybe just silver with a clear over it...

Can you believe they riveted the side brackets that hold the bulkheads to the hull , over the carpet !! I'm like they installed the carpet first, lol. If I dig the carpet out it will leave it loose, If I cut around the carpet and just leave it , I wont stop thinking about it being there !!!

I got the tank out, whew frozen in. The tank had the screws off on the fuel gauge sending unit. It is about a quarter full of water. Well Ice. Heavy . I was wrong about the foam being easier frozen, scratch that. Time to throw some heat on there for a couple days. Bulk heads out. Long day...

    1974 starcraft islander overhaul

That will be excellent ! If your planning on putting any down riggers on the back , might be a good time to put in some plates for reinforcement. You can definitely build off your beam, that was a good idea.

I started pulling the waterlogged foam today. The foam was poured around the Gas tank filler hose and the vent hose, no saving them . The foam was frozen so it made the job a little different . not harder really just slower. being frozen helped it stay together in blocks , lol. I got the Gas...
