    17 vs 19 vs 21 Pitch?

The I6 1500, was not known for great Low End Grunt, and was a cantankerous thing between 2000-4000rpm but between 4000-6000rpm, that motor could sing, on a light hull

    STAINLESS OR NOT

Neat thing about SS Props, is that don't shatter like an AL on an Impact, but they will keep hammering the Rocks, and bending/tearing the Blades, and bending Propshafts, and damaging other Parts of the Driveline This one caught an Underwater Cable. No Damage to the Lower Unit AL Mercury This...

    17 vs 19 vs 21 Pitch?

Did similar tests back in 76, with the old man's 90hp. Little or no Speed diff, just Rpm and Hole Shot changes Edit: In 72, put a much bigger Prop(pitch) on his 40hp, boat would barely Plane, so there was a big speed change

82 50 hp tilt and trim

Have you got the Factory Service Manual? I used to have one for my Inline 6 and it had a Section for the Power Trim Systems. Included were Drawings of the Hydraulic Systems

Trailer Heater? Your motor is dropping, so what is with the Transom Button Kit? There should be plenty of 2nd Hand Parts/complete Systems available

    Going straight at low speed?

I/Os and Outboards have not only a Rudder(Gearcase/Lower Unit), they also have Directional Thrust. Very few Jet Boats, and PWC(aka Lake Lice) have any Rudder(some units have a very tiny protrusion), which is why if the Throttle is released. or the Motor dies, she ain't a steering

    Going straight at low speed?

Vee Hulls, especially I/Os do tend to wander, but a lot of it is from Over-correcting at the Helm

    Testing thermostat with torch

As in Boiling Water, yes. If you are thinking about a Torch, do so at your own Risk. Since you say it is a Warning Horn, it is likely just a Thermostatic Switch, not a Variable Resistance Device.

Maybe, you have the Parts Motor, and we don't. Just out of curiosity, what Manual are you using?

    Testing thermostat with torch

Since the Pump is missing a lot of Material, who knows where the stuff is residing. As for the Temp Sensor, that head must have got quite hot for it to pop out like that, or someone took it out and didn't reinstall it properly, as it does look cross theaded. Remove it and examine the Threads, of...

    17 vs 19 vs 21 Pitch?

Any difference in Top Speed, will be low, far less than 5 mph. Any Idea what Make and Series the current Prop is and how old is it, and is it cupped?

    Testing thermostat with torch

You will likely have to pull the Powerhead off the Exhaust Housing as that is likely where any pieces of the Impeller have gummed things up. O-rings should be considered expendable. However some have reused them, claiming they worked fine, but YMMV...

Mercury BlackMax 175Hp, difficult staring, and then bogging down.

Merc got the Extra Displacement by removing the Iron Sleeves from the 2 liter Block, and chroming the Bores. Pre 82, that displacement was for the 200 and 225, then in 82 when Merc started Prop Rating their bigger Outboards, the 2.4 black was used for the 175 and 200. Removal of the Iron...

Mercury BlackMax 175Hp, difficult staring, and then bogging down.

On the 3rd you reported "I did a compression test and got readings 110, 125, 120, 115, 120, 125 which is average for a 2 stroke" 5 days later... " Recently it overheated again and this time scored one of the bores, see the attached image. I yet to do another compression test after this happen."...

    I've got a 1971 Mercury 110 9.8hp outboard with a stuck tiller handle

So you removed the Tiller Handle, and it is Frozen, or is the Part still part of the Engine still Frozen? As for the "other one on..." Is that a Complete Motor, or just the Tiller Handle?
