    you can test the wire from boots to HV pin for resistance and solid continuity if you jiggle the wires while holding the probes solidly... ushould get 3-.5 to 8-9 K ohms steady does not mean coils can't spark to ground if cracked ... why not refurbish the whoe thing and be done with it ...

    did the engine always run good or that way in years past .... using the same plug type or did you change anything. ? a dirty carb usually restricts fuel flow. CHeck heat range for plugs maybe try one up the scale. if the inlet needle was stuck open you would see fuel dripping out...

    flooding / carb overfill is usually the result of a float/inlet valve stuck open or.... a high pressure build-up in the fuel supply.... enough to overcome the inleet needle's job of shutting off the fuel when the carb is full.... it works just like a toilet bowl valve ! did you check...

    the 6hp gems ate mostly trolling motors... 8hp won't pull your skiers. it is like asking a fine swiss watch to run faster.

    3.8 kilo... ohms (3,800 ohms) yes on the secondary HV pin to either primary primary to primary is usually 1.5 OHMS or less.

    Kilo ohms hopefully HV secondaries can range from 3-4 up to 10 Kohms primary to primary is usually less than 1.5homs if you have 4.4kohms coils lilely ok clean the points again and check the condensers. no coil wires rubbing the main shaft !! front coil to top plug!!

    unless you buy the tool to extract the brass bushig.... threading from the top is theeasiest ... done it several limes. replace the oring and insert the brast bushing with the taper facing down. tap gently to seat the oring.. if need be polish the shift rod to remove burrs or rust...

    problem seems to have migrated Now, it's not flooding and there's fuel in the bowl, but no run. can we presume the VST issue has been resolved ... ? findings ??? carbs are full now .......... fuel inlet needle is working.......... starts on carb cleaner but will not run...presumably not...
