    Extreme ventilation issues?

The first sentence: "...2001 Mercury XR6 150hp, 20" long shaft on a 25" transom..." Pretty much sums it up You might get away with it at the Top End, if you use Props that are designed to run half out of the water, but they really only work well at High Speeds, and will still slip a lot when...

    Will a 1976 85 hp head fit my 1969 85 hp?

No, the Part #s change several Times through the Years Pre 79s were 92.6 in. Displacement, Post 78s were 99.6 in. Displacement. Early Blocks will not bolt on to the Later Mid Sections. The Part #s are different for the 76 compared with the 69s. They will likely Bolt-on, but there might be...

1985 Black Max 150 Hp Leaks oil out of reservoir cap. I replaced the cap and still leaking.

The 84 V6s still had the Single Ram TnT. In 84, only the Inline 6s and the 66.6 in 4 got the New Trim System

1985 Black Max 150 Hp Leaks oil out of reservoir cap. I replaced the cap and still leaking.

Reading the Post, I couldn't tell if you meant ...I've run the V6 since 1976... or ...I've run that V6 since 1976... I thought 84 was the 1st Year for the Mixing System on the V6

    88 merc 60 (2 carb, 3 cylinder)

Check all connections in the Ignition System for Tightness, and Corrosion. Spark needs to be Consistent, at 3/8" You might have Dirt/Gum/Varnish in the Fuel Circuits in the Carb(s). While you replaced the Tank and Hose, the Hoses, between the Connector and the Carbs, might have Problems...

    Barefoot skiers?

I too learned behind a 14 ft with a 40. I remember cracking the whip behind our 90, boat was going 33-35, with 75 ft of rope, I was probably going over 50, and wiped out. I skipped on the Water, like a Stone, several times before the water was soft enough to yield

    Barefoot skiers?

The Boom will make it easier, as it offers Solid Water for the Feet, unlike the Frothy Water behind the Boat. As for your Anticipated Joy, at Barefoot Speeds, the Water doesn't feel much softer than Concrete upon a Wipeout. Any bit of Floating Debris, such as a Branch, can really mess up the...

    1986 merc 40hp 4cyl

That Motor has been around since the late 50s. For many Years it was known as the 50hp. In the mid 80s, Mercury Prop Rated the Engine, as a 45hp, then a 40hp. Get a Factory Service Manual for that Engine as it will have the Info you will need to rebuild and readjust the Linkages after...

1993 Evinrude 70hp Missing Prop, Seeking Recommendations

There is an Easy way to get the Weight. Weigh the Boat and Trailer, unhooked from the Tow Vehicle(get it off the Scale), then go launch the Boat, return with the Empty Trailer and do the Solo Weight thing again for the Trailer. Even 1200lbs for an 15-16 ft Hull seems a bit high BTW, water is...

    Choke stays closed

Maybe because the Chart shows it is supposed to be on #7. However, Now you say the Choke works on #7, earlier you said it is always on when on #7. Maybe Power is being applied to the Circuit other than by the Choke Switch. Since you say it happens with 2 different Control Boxes, start looking...

You are aware that, your Engine does not have a removable Cylinder Head? Pop the Transfer Port Cover off and check to see if the Rings have tension, and to see if the Piston Skirt is scored. If you have a Fiber Optic Camera, stick it in the Spark Plug Hole and take a Look at the Cylinder Walls...

    Propeller recommendation: 14.5' Alumacraft w/Mercury 50HP 2stroke

I think the Tach is reading a bit High. In 50 yrs I have Never seen a 14" prop on the 44. inch 50hp, on a 14-15 boat, turning 5700 rpm. I have seen them turn around 4700-4800rpm

1993 Evinrude 70hp Missing Prop, Seeking Recommendations

I agree with Racer, a 17" would be a pretty much what would be on a 70hp on a boat in the 16' range. I also think 1900lbs is a bit Heavy for that Hull.
