    Battery...

Metal part was twisted in the housing such that about half the ports were covered for intake and exit. I've ordered it AGAIN. I have another good rubber part, and metal part, but need the housing, really, since it got hot.

    Battery...

The fact that there was smoke initially isn't good. But that was with the water ON. I replaced it last year after the first event, but I still had trouble with running it on the water hose after that. I think I even opened it up and looked at it again. It ran nice and cool on the lake...

    Battery...

I went with a 27 (series?) EverStart from Wal Mart. Those have been pretty good to me. And it's a marine, just about 3/4 the size of the other one. Maybe 50lbs instead of 65. 750MCA. I finally got around to that today, and put it in tonight to try again for first start of the season (late...

    Battery...

Lol. I dread that day, whatever the cause of it is... It's an '88 19' open bow, 4.3L OMC Cobra. Forgot I don't have a signature with that. Battery is a Duralast from Autozone: 29DP-DL.

    Battery...

Charged it up this week, de-winterized the boat today and tried to start it, but it cranked so slow and for such a limited time it didn't. It seemed like it was cranking slow last season too. I am going to replace the battery, probably in a day or two. My question is this: Do I need to go...

Oil change interval, synthetic or no, curious what we all do

Yeah, "5min or less", or some such. As if such a claim would make me want to go there. No, no, please take your time and at least do it right. I had it done at WM once on an old POJ truck because I just didn't feel up to it. Got the cheapest oil (Quaker State) and I don't think they made any...

Oil change interval, synthetic or no, curious what we all do

Do you guys really believe that stuff came from decomposed dinosaurs? Or vegetation?

    Exhaust Bellows 3.0 cobra

I bought my 4.3 Cobra with the exhaust bellows ripped pretty bad. I drove it like that for a while, then I had a new one on there briefly, but now have a single flapper instead (long story). Don't think you can change one w/o removing the drive, but not 100% sure about that.

Best diet to lose the gut!!??

Don't take dieting advice from fat people... Lol. Or financial from broke people (Dave Ramsey). I've been exercising for 10+ years (moderate weightlifting, + some very light treadmill work for a year or so). Never was able to lose weight though - exercising makes me hungry. Was at the doc in...

    Need another Motorcycle...

So I've really been enjoying the new bike, and back to riding in general. Kinda bummed when I have to drive, heh, although I didn't really mind having my car out today. It didn't take long to let me down though - had it for about a week, and the fuel pump scrapped out. It was dumping gas, and...

    IS IT THE STARTER SOLENOID?

You mean it's not possible to program in all the answers in an infinitely complex world? Dash it all...

    Need another Motorcycle...

Yes, I want to do the oil and filter very soon. It seems to have been very well maintained and a lot of the other fluids have been done recently. I need to dig into the records to confirm all that. It was a one-family bike - dad (a doctor) bought new in '97, and son got it a couple years...

    Need another Motorcycle...

Pulled the trigger this afternoon on a super nice '97 Kawasaki ZX-11, and rode it home 120+ miles. That was a cold ride for the last half or more. It's not as comfortable as the bikes I was used to (or the '84 Honda I tested), and visibility due to mirror location isn't really great - hard...

"Christmas staff fund charge" on my marina bill?

Reminds me of the "shop supplies" thing that I've seen tacked onto auto maintenance bills. Like paper towels, fingernail brushes and stuff? Lol. And yes, the fuel surcharge that came up those years ago.

    Need another Motorcycle...

I came, I saw, I rode, and I decided to pass. Still like the style. There was too much on that one that stacked up against it - cosmetically and mechanically. At least as far as I'm concerned. But it did run and shift quite well, that I could tell. Doesn't seem like a bike you'd casually...

    Need another Motorcycle...

No, I'm just responding to Bob's be cautious advice (well founded, esp. on a bike that looks like this one). I'm really asking for a cycleanalysis on a bike y'all haven't even seen or heard, lol. My plan is to go see it and decide in person if our schedules will line up (especially after...

    Need another Motorcycle...

How would I know there was a problem? I'm leaning toward renting a trailer and having a look. I've seen that cams were an issue for the early ones of these, and something about aftermarket cam oiling kits. Unless there's something obvious, I know I'd be kind of rolling the dice on the whole...

    Need another Motorcycle...

Found an '84 VF1000F a few hundred miles away. The price is right, but the bike looks to match it. Guy says it runs "good". May or may not go to see it. Really don't want a project. He's got an old Interceptor collection for sale.

    Another crazy car question...

Yes. Multitasking - warm it up, add a little oil at the same time. Not my usual practice though. Funny thing about the dipstick - it's got a crosshatched area that holds oil. IOW, you can't check it cold w/o wiping the dipstick (like I usually do on my others). When I finally found that...
