    Engine Overspeed?

I rarely run WOT but I have heard my 5.0 MPI reach the limiter twice in the 19 years I've owned it. As Fun Times said right around 5150 I heard a somewhat faint beeping. That was all she had and conditions had to be perfect to reach the limit. Quickly backed it off.

    Rev 4 to something else

You're ahead of most of us here but I'll jump in with some comments. Hard to believe a big 4 blade won't back up well. What's the deal with that? Why do you say old Mirage vs Mirage Plus? Sounds like you have prior experience with the Mirage line. You say guardian do you mean rev limiter...

    Mercruiser 5.0 starting problem

Sounds like a dead battery. Even though things light up doesn't mean your battery has enough juice to turn the engine over. Recommend eliminating this first. Is this an MPI?

    Boat listing to left

Steering wheel yes but he's concerned with listing. I'm not sure they correlate.

    Boat listing to left

I wondered the same but he states it floats level at rest.

    Boat listing to left

A right hand prop will naturally twist a boat to port. This is why driver positions are on the right.

    Boat listing to left

Not trying to question your knowledge but you state the hull is dry and no extra weight. How was this determined?

    Boat listing to left

In boating terms a hook refers to a downward turn in the bottom of a boat usually near the transom. Most common in outboard aluminum boats that are trailered. Especially those sold on trailers that are too short and do not support the transom. It can, however, occur in glass boats also...

    Prop size

Do you mean 21.5? You have a comma in there.

    Pumping out oil from dipstick

If you trailer the best way to change oil is with the drain hole hose sticking through the garboard. I do this as soon as possible after leaving the ramp so oil is still hot. I drain straight into my recycle container. Easy and very little mess.

    Trim limit switch

I get what is said above about not being necessary but frankly I like having them. I use the limit switch when loading onto the trailer. I bring the drive up to the limit when powering on. Never nicked a prop like this and if I need to gun it I know I'm not stressing the u-joints past the...

Wires on trim posn sender frayed.

I keep nursing mine with liquid electrical tape also. I've done this for maybe 5 years now. Hoping to buy time until bellows etc. need attention. Some say, with the right tools, they can be replaced without removing the bell housing. Haven't tried that yet

MPI fogging mixture vs fuel return

Tbh what's driving my thinking about this is your suggestion of simply adding 2 stroke to the boat's tank instead using the remote tank and disconnecting the fuel supply year after year. My boat is stored at the lake 2 hours from the house so it's advantageous to do everything I can on my last...

MPI fogging mixture vs fuel return

Lol you answered my question. Mad at myself for not thinking of that. Seems like in the past someone made a point that what goes in the filter is not what actually goes through from there but I either mis-understood or was bad info.

MPI fogging mixture vs fuel return

Let me see if I understand this correctly. On my 2002 5.0 MPI (serial #0M345638) the fuel pump puts pressure on the injectors, so much so that all of the fuel pushed to the injectors is not used but some is returned to the fuel filter. So when Merc recommends a 10:1 fogging mixture, 10:1 is...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

From the pic in your original post, is that a High Five prop? Seems like an odd selection for the application. Maybe the PO liked it for trolling.

what do you see wrong with this picture?

I put a hole in the bottom of the filter with something sharp. Fully drains then.

Just replaced two Goodyear Marathons 10 years old. Boat is stored in indoors though.
