Mercruiser remote control box replacement on Islander.

I think the 4000 is current. I'd go with the 4000.

Boat Doesn’t Want To Turn Left

Remove the cable from the motor and see how both the cable and the motor move independent from each other. Try to isolate the problem.

Losing Power - After two hours

To those who know more than I could this be a bad coupler? I was thinking the drop wouldn't indicate coupler but what if it was triggering an overheat when it revved?

    2016 4.5L mercruiser i/o Very weak performance

Eight adults on a 20 foot deck boat is a load. I'd say Scott is right. To be honest there's no such thing as a stock prop. There's the prop the dealer installs to hopefully impress a potential buyer and that usually means top speed with a light load. Suspect you're running a 21" and you need...

Losing Power - After two hours

You mean it revs to 5000 without advancing the throttle to WOT? When this occurs does the speed advance along with it or is it just revving? A video would certainly help.

    Going electric vs marinas

Not saying this will be reality but It's quite possible that our liking of electric, once we experience it, will trump our gas boating habits. In other words instead of venturing 30 miles out we'll settle for the fishing spot at half the distance in order to own the electric craft.

    Bearing buddies full of grease???

You can put a little more in but cease pumping before the piston hits the stops. Press around the edges of the piston with your finger. It should feel like it's floating on grease.

    Going electric vs marinas

Yes this is what I was thinking of. Just everyday boating traffic. I suppose on one hand, at least for those who trailer, "gassing up" before you leave the house becomes much easier. I like your idea racerone. The charging barge would be a destination of sort. Use most of your juice going...

    Going electric vs marinas

Man, everyone is working on electric power for the future. I see where tax incentives will be offered in the future for non-on the road vehicles, i.e. boats, RVs, aircraft, etc. Just wondering, how would this affect marinas? They would have to have charging stations. This would eat up a lot...

Merc Alpha4 no longer available. What to replace it with?

Scott, to confirm, the results you state in your second sentence above are with the 2004 Sea Ray 200 sport?

    looking for new prop

The pitch of the prop is how much bite the prop takes with each revolution, i.e the angle of the blade. In theory a 17" prop would advance 17" through a solid in one revolution. Water is of course not solid but this is a standardized way of expressing this dimension. Much more can be said but...

    Cap/Rotor aftermarket or OEM?

I run the NAPA Echlin RR207 cap and RR256 rotor in my 2002 5.0 MPI.

    I have a question

Another thing to consider (aside from exceeding HP limits) is weight. With only two logs if the 150 presses down enough that the water line rises more than halfway on the logs then you have to add the weight of the water on top of the logs further degrading performance/safety. Had a friend put...

    Anchor locker drain

Did you poke at it? What's it feel like? It may help if you zoomed out a bit. What's behind that part of the boat?

Mercruiser 4,3 MPI from 2008, intermittent alarm after 3500 rpm??

Its only purpose is to stop someone from revving it in neutral past 3500? So in the OP's case his has evidently malfunctioned (I realize we haven't heard back) telling the engine it's in neutral when it's obviously not. If this is correct (and there's no side effects) I will unplug mine and...

Mercruiser 4,3 MPI from 2008, intermittent alarm after 3500 rpm??

Alldodge, just curious as I have an A1 G2, where does the OP go from here? Assuming something is amiss that's why it went into restrictive mode? The gear switch is needed correct? Is unplugging the gear switch simply to diagnose the issue?

    1st Boat/First Thread/First Everything lol. Need help

Before you ever put it in the water remove the screws that attach your garboard drain. Coat them in 3M 4200 and reinstall. Put a bead of 4200 around the outside flange. Do the same on the inside if you can reach it.

Mercruiser 4,3 MPI from 2008, intermittent alarm after 3500 rpm??

Regardless of the alarm it doesn't sound like it's running very good. Seems to be missing. Intermittent alarms on MPIs are usually one permit minute I think. That sounds more like a chopped up continuous one.
