Best way to get to my boat?

The WB dinghies are really heavy for their size, a kayak might be easier to haul in your vehicle. Where you are there, is this a bay that backs up to the ocean? What kind of tides and winds do you get? No one has lifts where I am, on the North Shore of Long Island, either you have moorings...

Best way to get to my boat?

Or can you build a ladder from the lift to the water and keep a dinghy or kayak on the beach to paddle out?

Best way to get to my boat?

I keep my boat on a rotating mooring and paddle out in a 8’ Walker Bay dinghy, unless I have paid the boatyard to use their water taxi service that year… Easy way to do it because the mooring is safe in storms like the one we just had BUT you have to deal with bottom paint…

2012 3.0L TKS runs great with muffs, but slow on lake...

Glad you got it! Since you have an I/O it's highly advised to keep the anti siphon valve. Yes they can cause trouble but if the fuel line leaks between the tank and the fuel pump and if that fuel line drops below the level of top of the tank the fuel can siphon out of the line into the bilge...

That’s the fuel pick up tube also called the fuel withdrawal tube. Use penetrating oil, time & patience. Do not force it work it back & forth just a bit spray more penetrating oil, get it to move a bit more etc. Dang aluminum!

2012 3.0L TKS runs great with muffs, but slow on lake...

Yes to the question on the anti siphon valve. The ball must move freely and not stick. Be careful removing it. Look inside the hole in the fitting (top part of the fuel pick up tube) it's screwed into, do you see crud in there? If so it should be removed from the tank and cleaned out or...

2012 3.0L TKS runs great with muffs, but slow on lake...

two things, the anti-siphon valve can be gummed up with crud inside, the ball can corrode in place but also the part that it screws into (the dip tube or withdrawal tube as it's called) can have a screen on the bottom that can be blocked by crud also. You can rule these out without taking...

2012 3.0L TKS runs great with muffs, but slow on lake...

What you can try is to spray the part of the down pipe (below the rubber hose) with silicone, loosen the clamps and spray silicone in the joint between the hose and the exhaust elbow (top curved U shape piece of cast iron) and the hose. Let soak in for a bit. Then try the move the hose up and...

And getting back to possible exhaust restrictions, it’s easy enough to slide down the rubber exhaust hose and check to see if the exhaust flapper is still in place & moves freely. If it’s missing then it could be blocking the exhaust. All it takes is one overheat in the past. You could also...

for the 4 cyls is 3.5-6 psi for the 4.3, 5.0 and 5.7 is 5 3/4 to 7 psi for the volume test, 1 pt in 45 sec or less interesting they give a vacuum at cranking speed test, 9-10" of mercury

I'm going to see if there's a fuel pump volume test in my FSM. Curious now.

How do I get that last inch?

If you look closely, you can see the strap on mine is almost horizontal, I like this pivoting winch bumper design, never have had a problem with it as long as it's adjusted to the correct height.

2012 3.0L TKS runs great with muffs, but slow on lake...

I'm wondering if you can have enough pressure but not enough volume. Pressure only needs to be adequate enough to keep the float bowl full, but think about how much GPH increases from idle/low speed to planing/WOT. 2-3x as much.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Very interested to see this project progress as somone who has also lived with sterndrives with a boat moored in salt water for 20+ years as well. The boat I have was actually available with outboards although probably few were sold way back then. Actually a 200 Hp 4 stroke would probably move...

How do I get that last inch?

That makes sense I can see that the steeper the ramp is the more likely it is to happen. Maybe not as common on roller trailers due to the articulating roller bars….

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Even New England doesn’t usually get snow till mid to late December….we have not had a “real” winter here in Long Island in 7/8 years. Little snow. We do have a nor’easter coming tomorrow though….

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

If you own it & someone else gets hurt using it you’ve opened yourself up to a lawsuit. They sue the operator & the owner. PI Lawyers = ruthless vultures!

How do I get that last inch?

I think with a single bump stop it should be above the bow eye so it doesn't catch when launching the boat I would raise the winch to try to get the strap level.
