    The boat is 2900lbs; is there a rule of thumb for the amount of weight the chain has to hold? also, should the winch strap be very tight?

    I went to get gas and the thing was bouncing on the trailer like crazy. It just has the front winch strap and the back straps. The bow also isn’t touching the front roller. I’m paranoid of wrecking my new boat. Is the bouncing normal? does this look like it’s on far enough?

    I'm thinking of doing it; just wondering how much they help. I was hoping for increased visibility but some of the ones I'm looking at say that you can use them to guide the boat on the trailer. That sounds nice but I'm wondering if it also scratches the hell out of the rub rails as the PVC...

    my biggest fear is that I put too much stress on the eye of my new to me boat and rip it out; but that seems like a good compromise. pull it in till the stress gets too much. I'm not *too* worried about my last attempt as my 13 YO son winched it on, so it couldn't have been that difficult.
