    looking at the upper arm of the shift mechanism of the drive using a right hand prop rotation for fwd, the rod is attached to the stbd side of the arm ,witch way is fwd gear up or down ? installing a new box and motors not running yet.

    All Alpha 1 and Alpha GEN II are clockwise in fwd gear. Alpha 1drives were never counter rotation With the new style cables you install, adjust , and insert cotter pin.

    LOSE the HAMMER Get your self a pitman arm puller and slightly modify the ends to fit behind the cylinder. once removed use a 3/4 inch plumbers wire brush to clean the insides of your clyinger untill the bushings slide right in
