Wiring my 14’ sea king from scratch….help!

These are the two I’m looking at. Any reason anyone sees what the advantage of the split positive version would be?

Wiring my 14’ sea king from scratch….help!

Dumb question, but in my case then should I consider a dual purpose battery and just use the pull start on the motor if I get into a jam?

Wiring my 14’ sea king from scratch….help!

Thanks alldodge, I didn’t think about the motor not being able to charge the batteries! I’ll re-explore my wiring diagram. I’ll repost the new diagram. If you happen to catch it, please comment! :)

Wiring my 14’ sea king from scratch….help!

Hi all! I am having my 14’ Sea King repainted as we speak and am starting to think about the electrical. I have a 2004 Johnson 9.9hp outboard that draws about 7 amps. I would like to do a 2-battery setup (house and Crank) and am having trouble figuring out the wiring. I would like to use the...

    Help needed selecting a controller

Hi all! I’m trying to pair my 2004 Johnson 9.9hp outboard with a controller. I’m putting the engine in my 1960 runabout, so I’d like to use the controller for shift and throttle only and put the ignition and kill switch, etc. on the dash, like it was back then. Question is, can I use this...

Flex Seal on a Leaky Aluminum Boat?

Do you know if one is superior to the other? The Glove-it is about 4 times the cost of the Coat-it! :)

Flex Seal on a Leaky Aluminum Boat?

I just picked up a 14’ aluminum Sea King. I’ve been thinking I need to re-coat the inside just because it’s time and right now it’s all fully accessible, including a hatch to access the bow. Also, I put it in the water today and some water came inside. I’m sure there are leaky rivets throughout...

2004 Johnson 9.9hp Bombardier with no model tag on the transom clamp. Help!!

So who do I go to to get harnesses, cowl clips, etc.? Can I just walk into a Suzuki boat dealer and ask for the parts department? I am really after a wiring harness (you can see in the photos that the wires coming off of the Power Unit have been cut) and a set of proper controls. I bought the...

2004 Johnson 9.9hp Bombardier with no model tag on the transom clamp. Help!!

Hi all, I have a 2004 Johnson 9.9hp Bombardier with no model tag on the transom clamp. I have located the Welch plug on the block, but it reads 22 031507 which I think is just the serial number. Is there any other way to id the model number?

Proper Controls for Johnson 9.9 HP 4 stroke

    I've got a 1960 Sea King 14' with a 2004 Johnson 9.9hp 4-stroke engine. What controls should I use. I've got a Mercontrol, but I don't believe it will work.

    Raising the Transom?!

Cheaper to raise the transom I would suspect.

    Raising the Transom?!

Thanks Thanks Flashback. I think I got it now. This is a helpful photo I found on the internet. I didn't realize the height is critical! Looks like we're going up 5" +/-.

    Raising the Transom?!

Thanks Brian, Here are some better photos with dimensions. It looks like I am a bit low. The anti-cav plate is about 5" below the bottom of the boat and about 3" below the rib (as shown in the photo). Any suggestion on how much to raise the transom? I am replacing it this weekend...if I raise...

    Raising the Transom?!

Hi all, newbie here! I just bought my first boat, a 1960 Sea King 14'. I also purchased a separate outboard, a 2004 Johnson 9.9 4-stroke. I think that the shaft length might be a tad long for the transom. It's about 3-4" longer than the transom is high. Will this be ok to run on this boat? I am...
