    Just tested with a new compression gauge (Blue Driver $40 on Amazon) now I get 140-140-142-140. Harbor Freight gauge is junk.

    Has anyone used Street Fire Ignition controllers instead of Magnapower II on points distributor Chrysler outboards? How long have you been running the Street Fire Ignition and did you have any problems? Also did you use an epoxy coil or oil filled? What are the part numbers for the coils?

    I have a parts catalog for this exact motor. The starter part number is 85955-1, the Sierra cross-referenced part number is 18-5613 and the brush kit is 18-5697.     I just ran a compression check on a 1974 Chrysler 135hp. It was about 45 degrees outside and the engine was completely cold and has not been run for about 3 weeks. Exactly 90 on all 4 cylinders. Are these acceptable numbers?

    Thanks for the good advise. Disconnected battery side cable from solenoid and jumped the solenoid. No change at all. Pulled plugs and starter would spin the motor. Checked compression. Cold motor (it's about 45 degrees outside) exactly 90 on all 4 cylinders. Remember I'm running a 2 battery...

    Carbs leaking fuel 1988 force 125hp

    If the fuel is spitting out while it's running then you should check your reeds. If they aren't closing completely then fuel will spit or "leak" out the front of the carb while it's running.
