    No kidding! I thought the coil just puked energy. The points feedback and release the coil...... I thought the points released to the rotor tip. Thank you, J BTW, with the ignition in the on position, I did measure over 8 volts on each wire feeding the coil.

    If I put a lead out of the coil, I get nothing. That is before the distributor. How are the points affecting something upstream? Looks like I don't understand distributors. If this were an outboard, I'd be looking at the switch box. Thanks, J
