Ok, photos of the skid plates.
Neighbor kid cut them out of some 1/4" stock while learning to use his dad's plasma.
First photo shows how they were originally, but I wanted them lower.
So placed a 2 x between the plate and the trailer frame rail.
They extend behind the tire, and under the...
I was able to lower my bunk brackets for the front mounts, about 2 inches.
Then bought 2 different brackets for the rear mounts, which allowed me to lower them by 4".
But Ohio doesn’t have 15,000 lakes like here. Many of our ramps are on national forest land, or National park land.
And if they rebuilt the ramps, more people with go~fast boats would be on the smaller pristine lakes.
You don’t need a go-fast boat on a 1000 acre lake.
I welded up some skid plates and installed them in front of the trailer tires.
They extend down below the axle.
If there is a hole or drop off, the trailer slides back up onto the ramp.
They came into use last month when I used the ramp at Chequamegon waters flowage.
There are many hundreds of ramps across the country, that were built 75+ years ago, when the typical boat was 12’ to 15’ in length.
Place a modern 20’ to 24’ boat on one of these ramps, and the prop is 8’ off the end of the ramp where power loading will wash it out, and deposit a mud barrier...
truck stop, moving company, feed mill, recycling yard.
Anywhere with a large commercial scale.
But I'll venture a guess of 2837#.
(1640# +motor, +battery, + fuel, + gear, +trailer )
Hard to make a good diagnosis without more info.
How big is your boat?
How heavy?
What hp is it rated for?
Is engine running on both cylinders?
Does the engine rev up?
If you have a tach, how high is it reading?
How fast is the boat going?
What is the prop pitch?
House could get hit by a boat.
Probably the last thing the homeowner was thinking about when building.
Lake of Ozarks at midnight.

You sure it's a '71? and 15' not 16'?
There are no 15 super sports (open bow) listed.
Super Sports were all 16, 18, and 20/21'.
Sure looks like a 16SS (super sport), which was rated at 85 hp in 1971.
The rating went up to 90 hp in the early 1980's.
Is there a HIN Hull id number on the...
Here is a link to the iboats Starcraft forum.
Lots of info on restorations there.
What to inspect, how to repair, transoms, floors,
outboard conversions, etc..

The milky stuff really isn't the issue, more the problem when it sits and separates over time, and all the oil floats on top. Surely you don't believe all gear lube is the same, interchangable?
Emulsifiers and anti-foam. And some sort of clinging ingredient.
Put some Merc marine lube on one...
Correct. I have 5 ground wires connected to the harness at the coupler
Also have a flat 4 plug spliced into the harness, just in case I have a need to tow with a vehicle that doesn’t have a 7 pin plug.
I have a bunk trailer and an 18’ boat.
I have a spare trailer tire mounted on each side, 1” from the hull, about 5’ from the bow. And 4’ guide bunks at the stern. So if a really bad situation happens, the boat will still be centered well enough to attach the winch strap and get out...
I just returned from Canada as well.
I noticed almost everything was running slower or on a delay this year.
Store clerks, waitresses, resort staff, resort owners, and even the fish.
I suspect it is the result of the recent legalization of pot in Canada. People were smoking everywhere...
