Remote sticks when going into reverse, but only when in water.

Shift interrupt switch should not engage going into gear, only when coming out of gear into neutral Possible causes are worn/binding lower cable, cables out of adjustment, improper lower cable routing, worn/binding shift system linkages

Popping through carb at 4000 rpm

Lean condition, pre ignition, or mis adjusted/worn valves Would be neat to know full advance number but you've checked timing twice. So, it's okay..... New long block, hope valves adjusted proper I'd focus on fuel delivery - pressure/vacuum first

Official Recall Notification U.S. Federal Boat Safety Act:

Don't stock the kits so I can't say for that. The filters I have are the plain old qs ones in the box Go through a lot of em in the spring and was curious when I noted the o ring instead of a quad ring Only way I could get the fuel pump to not draw air was by tightening the filter with a strap...

Official Recall Notification U.S. Federal Boat Safety Act:

Gasoline is no joke You ever seen Robocop? Maximum overdrive? Thats mostly diesel which slow burns like whaley/kerosene But gas goes quicker especially with oxygen present. Consumes a lot fast, like really fast then slows down, hence ignition timing I got burned once by this filter because...

Bad engine coupler or spun prop hub?

Did any if these fellas pull the prop, disassemble the hub and inspect? Flo torq hub is readily available through mercury alone, not part of a kit. Cheap, easy test If you can survive a week without your boat it's okay to relinquish your prop to a reputable shop for inspection/rebuild...

Or A global company seeking a source for saving pennies? Speaking of those zinc nuts, member when papa saved couple in the fuse box? Or A global company seeking any filter production? Or A stinky design? Funny object the o ring, so many sizes of diameter (both ways). Reminds me of thread...

2000 Regal 2100 LSR 5.0 No start after rebuild.

Power probe to affix ground is iffy Use a jumper wire to repeatedly strike ground on the wht/grn wire from the module This is electricity ignition, forget your diesel complacency

    Hour Meters growing apart

Very few times I've seen ecm hours match/be close to boat hr meters If you perform proper routine maintenance on your engines/running gear all will last thousands of hours Know a fella interested in a 98 330ec with 454s. 1500 hours on the tach meters, omg! Breaks down to about 60 hrs a season...

Mercruiser 4.3LH backfiring & weird timing

Valve is tuliped. Most likely from water in the compression chamber Might get by with a valve job but would be suspect of piston/cylinder issues as well

Preloading without the rolling dial torque wrench

Use a large (3"-4") worm gear clamp with a wide band around the bearing pack to keep it stable while checking rolling torque Do you have the u-joint assy/bearing pack suspended in the retainer wrench while checking torque?

    496 HO Failure

Yep When a boat gets towed in with a nasty running noise the customer has already most likely condemned a major component. You can't really break it any more than it is Keen thought of pulling the drive, running gear failures as part of the entire package can appear to be engine failures at times

5.7 EFI stalls when warm and shifting into gear

The ecm doesn't increase the rpm of the engine, that happens naturally The ecm controls the amount of fuel the engine receives by adjusting the pulse width (amount of time the fuel injectors are open/passing fuel). The ecm uses the sensor parameters from the map, tps, ect, rpm (from the...

Cool, the drive is installed correctly because you don't want to r & r it You can't achieve reverse when you cheat it let alone as designed. The cables are installed/adjusted accordingly Mod Edit: Attacks on another member will not be tolerated. See Rule #4
