    Unless you upgraded your running gear, you don't have an alpha--likely an MC-1 The SIS should only activate coming out of gear when on the water running. "A little stiff" is a bad cable. There should be practically no resistance

    I'd probably call the merc an open loop system, since the pcm is operating on a fixed maps based on some sensor input. It just doesn't ever go into closed loop. But yeah, he isn't ever switching into closed loop

    Admittedly ignorant about the merc systems, so just throwing out my ill informed thoughts... IAC shouldn't have huge effect once your rpms are up. You can check the operation with a scan tool, number of counts. An open loop system kind of limits your ability to tell whether you're running...

    You've mentioned closed/open loop a few times...afaik your engine doesn't use a closed loop system... But are you no longer getting a code 14?

    Need a lot more info on what's going on, but no, the gear ratios on a v8 won't work on a 3l most likely. Maybe a 5.0 using a 1.62 would work on a 3.7, but in general the typical 1.47 wouldn't work with the typical 1.94ish on the 3.0l

    Why not wire the fuel pump starting circuit off the yellow/red slave solenoid output lead?

    Are you talking keeping the omc setup? If so, yes long block is easiest. Otherwise pulley to prop Merc is the way to go. Anything else and you'll be chasing stupid random parts.

    Looks like a pretty good flow chart. Bad ECT would cause it to run rich, not sure why it would only affect one side though. Does it miss only when warm?
