    does anyone know?

Based on the photos you've provided it appears to me the seat portion of the petcock assembly is missing. The "wing nut" (movable) portion pictured threads into the seat portion (stationary). The seat portion is pictured in post #14, item in the left of the picture. Your pictures of the movable...

Maintenance - New owner of 89 Mercruiser 4.3L Alpha One

Yes to all 5. Don't comprehend French but the lube looks like it says high performance gear lube, 90 wt is what you need. A fuel/water separating filter is a good idea to change, most likely a spin on/oil filter type if equipped. Otherwise there is a filter in the fuel pump that should be...

Gear oil reservoir system - 1988 vs 1998 Bravo TA

No problem, if/when you decide to upgrade it may be in your interest to upgrade to bravo 2 or 3 drives. I'd reckon to see bravo 2's oem on a '34 DA of that vintage opposed to 1's but I've seen weirder things in the wild. Hull design on the '30-'40 class have changed a bit for the DA's since...

    trouble getting reverse.

Based on the photos posted your best option imo is to replace the entire engine assembly. My guess is the rest of the propulsion system is in similar condition and most likely needs replaced. The clear covered box in the photos is a gray water (sump box) often used to remove shower drain water...

Gear oil reservoir system - 1988 vs 1998 Bravo TA

The 1988 transom assy would most likely be the very first designed bravo assy available to the market The optional gear lube monitor system used a stainless braided line/hose from the upper gear lube vent hole in the driveshaft housing routed through the transom above and to the side of the...

Mercruser 1898 5.7 with thunderbolt ign problem

As others have stated on a t bolt ignition the 2/3 wire electrical component you're referring to is most likely the ignition sensor in the distributor. I recommend using only the oem sensor as I've seen many aftermarket ones fail quickly. The ignition module (which is the component that...

Alpha drive for a V8 whats the ratio?

Durr....post #2 At this point it's best to recommend OP upgrade to bravo drives/transom assys. After all they haven't said their NOT going to the moon

    marine engine mystery

Have never experienced it myself but have heard reports of clutch slippage when using high perf lube in place of GL-5 in SX/A model drives AQ will run pretty much anything proper weight save for the old single prop which uses 30 wt motor oil

Alpha drive for a V8 whats the ratio?

True that....... OP hasn't given us much feedback and I have read many threads about alpha drive swaps where information provided includes using a different ratio than was used oem. User is informed they should use a different prop to get the performance close enough to work OP is a vice...

Alpha drive for a V8 whats the ratio?

Yes R/MR/Alpha One were only offered in 1.50, not 1.47 Gen 2 had both ratios available I reread OP and see 1988 which would be in the vintage of Alpha One and if oem wouldn't be available in 1.47. Guessing OP is looking at a gen 2 for replacement which wouldn't work on an Alpha One bellhousing

    Alpha knocking noise video.

Could be, but..... I agree with bondo's post in one of the threads you hijacked, most likely crank/rod bearing(s). Ime with a confirmed (drive removed) engine noise/knock as prominent as yours the issue most often is a lower end bearing Either way the motor needs to come out and further...

    Water in gearbox

Agree w/Kenny. Oil cooler may have ruptured/corroded allowing sea water to enter transmission Only other way water can enter is through a seal and if the transmission output flange isn't submerged its unlikely to occur this way

    Opinions on 1977 mercury thunderbolt110 9.8 hp

Mercury (still in business) has better support for parts/service info than omc. You ought to be able to source parts rather easily for your mercury motor, omc stuff is getting harder to find these days

Bracket in question is for maintaining leverage with starter motor engagement. Most commonly found with starters having straight bolt pattern for mounting. Guessing referenced info may have now superceded

Engine was Full of Clear Fluid when I drained oil

Clear fluid in a boat engine might be water. My guess is based on provided info with regards to a clear fluid and casting plug "removal" you own a freeze damaged engine and have the project you're looking for. Best method for removing oil sludge from an engine ime is swapping one quart of oil...

oil injection on circa 1989 Sea Ray 100

There's no reason to abate the oil injection system if it works, however, if it's oil injected I'd be suspect only of age of system vs use Most common failure of the oil injection system I'm guessing your motor has based on sea ray branded merc outboards has a fibre cog that drives the oil...

Alpha drive for a V8 whats the ratio?

same...ish Exact ratio is (example) 1.47 engine revolutions per 1 (one) revolution of propshaft. Again, only caveat I have is if using the same prop it's best to determine the engine isn't consuming itself from too much timing advance
