    they are ignition protected but not water proof! since I'm in salt water I do change them the minute they start to sound different. I usually have a spare ARCO in the garage, I have had good luck with their starters and alternators.

    That’s how I do it; as long as you can easily get to the S terminal on your starter it’s the easiest and fastest way. I look at the faces of the points first to decide if I want to replace em or not. I think the set that’s in there is going on 8 years old! I have a couple sets of spark plugs...

    I would loosen each belt and spin the pulleys by hand you may have an accessory that is close to seizing up. Better to find it now. Also a bent or flexed mounting bracket may have mis-aligned the pulley. Lastly look at the harmonic balancer while the engine is running, is it wobbling?

    PS I only use the spray in the inaccessible areas in the transom mount. The rest I brush on 2 coats. I find this more economical because the spray is thin too thin to really work.
