I suggest you take your boat, AND rent the 16' Nader.

What would you put in a small outboard repair kit?

Well, being Canadian, you must know about Duct tape, "the handyman's secret weapon", Spare prop and wrench. Spare impeller and needed tools to change it. And a Sharpie marker, to put an "X" on the side of the boat to mark the location of any good fishing spots you find. :)

Bought another one from Rawhide Youth Services

Yep, just a baby tiller, only 16" wide. Still pretty sturdy though. Good for the flower garden, the only gardening we still do. And yes, troy went bankrupt and is owned by MTD now. Popped right off with one pull at 27* this morning.

Advice on first extended trip with 14 footer/7.5

Many lightly loaded trips. take lots of gas. Honestly, 15km plus 35km = 50 km or 31 miles, from help or assistance. Thats a long way to swim if something goes wrong, bad fuel or mechanical issue will leave you stranded. We never venture more than a couple miles into the wild without a back up...

CCA for a 30hp 2 cycle Evinrude tiller

320 cca, or 400 MCA should do fine. Dad used a 300 cca lawn mower battery for his 25 hp Merc when his boat battery went south when he was in Canada for a month. I'm pretty sure my 70 hp manual only calls for 450 cca.

1988 Merc 200 HP Smoking during warmup.

Try the Mercury full synthetic, smoked less in my motors. But it doesn't smell the same as petrol 2 cycle oil. :(

    Prop shaft seals?

Did you hit bottom with the skeg/gearcase, or the prop? If you hit with the prop, it could have bent the shaft and possible caused the leak. Might be a good idea to have the shaft checked out. I, my opinion, if the shaft is good, then it is more likely that the fill/vent screw gaskets are...

Adding kicker motor to a Lowe FS 175

Can't see any way you will mount a kicker without drilling. I added a transom extension to my old '74 starcraft. the polyurethane didn't hold up to well My new boat has something similar, but done with spar varnish and still looks almost new after 8 years. Holds a 15 hp kicker just fine. Made...

    Moveable deck chairs on pontoon

Do you have a full fence / railing around your pontoon? If not, I would avoid any type of moveable seating. Wind or waves will send then over the edge.

    Waterline for 1964 16' Starcraft

Easy enough to mark the waterline with an old fashion pencil. Yes, they work on wet surfaces.

Bent Transom on Lowe FS175, HELP!

I would also pull that motor mounting bolt that was loose, and check the wood in there. That bolt should have been tight, and sealed with 3m 4200. Water could have easily gotten in there. May have done damage, maybe not. Looks like the boat sat in dry storage most of its life.

    90 HP Force

They used different impellers for different years throughout the 90's. You are going to have to narrow down year. Posting some photos may help. Side view of gearcase. Ignition board showing wiring, cd module, switchbox. and picture of the fuel pump. Or you could take it to a Merc dealer and...
