    I had to replace mine on my 92...but I used a used one of another parts motor I had. There are probably 93 million of those out there because I don't think they fail much. I now now know of two!

    HF When putting it in gear with the motor off you have to rotate the prop.

    No, that's on the very low end. You could test with a different tester or test it after it's ran awhile. It might come up.

    Plus a jon boat doesn't have a lot of free board so you will want to be very careful. Precious cargo on board!

    Just to confirm, 16 ft boat correct? And what is your transom height? I'd stick with the 6, 7.5 or 8hp outboard. All the same size block. Best to try for an 80's or 1990's year so you don't have to mess with it as much. Post pictures of your boat and engine.
