    Mercruiser 3.0 No Spark issues

Possible overthinking it, sounds to like it's an inconsistent rattle, not a rhythmic knock/noise I would associate with pinging/detonation. But I'm not in the boat with you...one test is to have a helper drive while you use a stethoscope to isolate the noise The plugs look good in the latest...

Trim tilt issue mercruiser no fluid going out/down

Yep. The bleed process is quite simple, add fluid to the top of the reservoir when the drive is full down/in. Run the drive up until the pump aerates, then back down. Top off again, repeat until drive makes full sweep up/down smoothly with no aeration. Top off reservoir when the drive is in the...

    2001 Mercruiser 5.7 TBI Won't Keep Running

Its possible you have an issue with the wiring harness, testing circuits for a short to ground is a good starting point. You are almost at the point of swapping components/parts between the motors. Twin engine setups are nice in that regard as you have a complete parts room in the bilge

    Gimbal Ring Replacement

I'd guess they are compatible, very little change to the gen 2 design over the years I would measure the square hole at the top, swivel pin hole at the bottom and pin holes on the sides to verify the dimensions are the same

Bravo Shift Cable Bellows Ripped in Half....

This. You will create too sharp a bend in the cable and risk damage. Do it right, pull the drive, remove the cable completely. My philosophy is if you remove a component, just replace it with new. You've already done half the labor anyway, why risk failure by installing a used part?

Pressing bearing off of pinion gear

You can do what you like but that wrench most likely will not read accurately enough for the 3-7 lb/in rolling torque required

    Outdrives not triming in sync

Never seen twin drives that trim at the same speed Trim gauge issue/error is most likely a sender issue

1990 3.0 Litre: No power to gauges, switches, or engine. Trim works. Help!

Crank and turn over are the same thing. Crank/turn over and start/run are different things. Sounds like your problem is intermittent, check for as mentioned the 50 amp breaker, loose/corroded wiring, battery connections, make sure the 10 pin harness is plugged in all the way and held with a...

Bravo 3 Oil Leak - Oh No !!!

Wipe/clean the hose between the bell housing and gimbal housing. That hose tends to dry/age crack from time to time, not uncommon failure

want to run my engine out of the boat.

    1. Now you are contradicting yourself as in post #65 you said all wiring is stripped from the motor and the terrible photo you posted early on does not show the ignition wiring. 2. Wht/pur is not a wire color that is common/NMMA consistent for boat builders. WAG would say it is/was used for the...

Mercruiser 4.3L TKS Carb scan tool?

No scan tool required or available. That is a carbureted engine without an ecm or sensors. To check oil pressure rely on the dash electronic gauge or use a mechanical gauge to verify operation. Timing and rpm can be obtained with an advance timing light. Check idle/initial timing with the...

want to run my engine out of the boat.

If this statement is true how do you know the wiring in the pictures you posted recently are from the distributor/coil? The picture you posted early in the thread of the engine with wiring intact was very grainy, could not see much/anything really. Kinda weird you're asking for wiring advice...

    Bravo 2 water pump impeller

There are four different fundamental styles of bravo drives. Bravo 1, Bravo 2, Bravo 3, and Bravo 4S. Bravo 1 and 2 drives have one propeller, 3 and 4S have 2 counter rotating propellers. Bravo 3 props are aft facing and 4S props are fwd facing. The main difference between Bravo 1 and 2 drives...

    Truck cam with captain's choice?

I'd be more concerned about total advance than initial timing, especially on a fresh rebuild sbc. Most sbcs can handle up to 34 degrees total advance on a stock setup, naturally aspirated. Anything more can get terrible quickly. Old fuel mixed with 87 isn't ideal either. If you're planning...

Pressing bearing off of pinion gear

You don't need to disassemble the bearing pack completely, as stated you do need to "release" the current torqued state of the bearing set and upon reassembly use a dial lb/in torque wrench to set the preload to 3-7 lb/in. If you hold the bearing pack in one hand and tap the back side of the...

    2001 Mercruiser 5.7 TBI Won't Keep Running

If you unplug the IAC or remove the line from the PCV valve does the idle increase? Can you keep the engine running if you advance the throttle?

    What is it a 230 or 250 GM straight 6 F0916CCD 10W147291 Casting #3921968

Based on the photos the first one looks better. It has genuine mercruiser accessories and will be better off if in fact the parts are oem or equivalent. Swapping over is a process but it can be done. The mercruiser manual gives all the engine specs for a complete teardown/rebuild. Have no idea...

    What is it a 230 or 250 GM straight 6 F0916CCD 10W147291 Casting #3921968

If all you need is the block then yes it will work, you just need to swap everything from the original motor to the "new" block. Depending on how far you want to go it could include swapping the internals, crank, pistons/rods, cam, new bearings, etc....

    Trim sender/gauge

Mercruiser spec for the sender is to read full down on the gauge when the drive is in fact in the full down/in position. To adjust the sender properly it is most easy to do the adjustment with a helper. Have the helper watch the gauge with the key on while you adjust the sender at the bell...
