    Correct, running at idle in a FULL barrel will be same as in lake. I usually leave garden hose on and in barrel in case pisser is losing water level pissing out to the side of barrel.You are also able to engage into fwd and rev while in barrel with same effect as lake water.Charlie

    Not necessarily a newer boat.....just a better quality boat. Bayliner is a very low end boat , not very valuable at all ,regardless of condition.     washed up in the tide I found a boat hook pole.This particular one is approx 7' with brass hook on it. Pole resembles a closet hanger pole.Old or just a special purpose pole??.Will post a pic later. Charlie

    Try the switch on the shifter as you shift from fwd to neutral and reverse, Worth trying to change the positions as the issue may be in the switch.Charlie

    Yep,I figured that out yesterday. What you describe is exactly what happened. Did a water pump service including housing and noticed no telltale so I knew something was not exactly right.Glad I kept the old housing for comparison.Amazing how little info is available for those 2 parts.I watched...

    I had one as a young teen.Lightweight and indestructible.I am sure they are even lighter weight now and surely not as indestructible as the one I had back in the 70s. great little Jon boat!!! just dont let it fill with water because it sinks like a rock.Charlie
