    4.3 Carb v 4.3MPI

I think the main advantage of throttle body FI or port EFI is better cold starts and smoother running when cold. However as far as ease of repair & parts cost carbs are easier to deal with. You’re not having to track down intermittent electrical problems and deal with NLA fuel injection parts...

Bought a new long block and wondering about the coupling and gimbal bearing.

I agree with eliminating the second filter, especially with an electric pump any additional restrictions can cause problems, pumps can overheat, etc. The other things to check are the connections for the pump & the oil pressure safety switch, these are areas that can also cause intermittent...

    Steering actuator vibration

that shaking has been reported on a few Volvos, don't know what the actual cause was, I never had it on my old Cobra even with a worn out leaky steering actuator that I replaced last year. The older Bendix style ones were adjustable, just like the old units on the Corvette & Ford unibody...

Just acquired a 170 Horizon. Assembly required.

boat looks great and you look like you're having fun! Here's ours, it sits on a salt water mooring so I can't keep it as clean as most here can who trailer and bottom paint is a necessary evil. But, I don't have the hassles of trailering, only 2x a year and if a storm runs up the eastern...

    Steering actuator vibration

That's interesing! What may be happening is that when it starts in the first vid the engine is running rough shaking side to side, that might be causing the steering arm to move in the transom assembly which via the steering cable would move the shuttle valve in the steering actuator causing...

    Starter issue, possibly water related

If your motor is cranking (turning over) fast enough to start but no start your starter may be ok, for now at least but you may have gotten water in the distributor. Salt or fresh water? If salt and water got over the starter just go buy a new one now. If fresh if you dry it out it may still work

Mercruiser 6.2l 300 (2018 model) Gimbal bearing grease how to?

The newer Mercs have permanently lubed gimble bearings & ujoints so you can’t grease em. The main thing is regular drive pulls to check for water in the bellows. Keep water out & they will last If you can’t get at the zerk fitting due to engine installation the only way to ensure proper...

    5.7 omc stalling while shifting

Sounds good, you’re going with a 15x13 prop right? You want at least 4500 rpm with wide open throttle trimmed properly.

4 flat 7 wire trailer connector

I used the Hopkins quick connect to make a spare extension harness and just soldered the wires to the terminals instead of depending on friction to hold them…

Starter bolts for 99 model3.0 cobra Volvo penta

I know Arco sells an installation kit with the bolts, but it depends on the starter you have. Bolts that are too long can let the starter to shift & can break the bolts off in the block. Make sure they do not bottom out before clamping the starter tight!

    Wrong Exhaust Manifold!

If you don’t want to pay for Merc OE then try Barr Marine aftermarket. I used em on my center riser conversion & it worked out great. No leaks fit like factory.

    Wrong Exhaust Manifold!

The dry joint is a better albeit more expensive system. I’d go with that for sure!

    5.7 omc stalling while shifting

Not really but if the centrifugal advance in the distributor isn’t working that could do it. Sometimes it’s a combination of problems causing a problem like that

    OMC 5.7. Totally frustrated

You should really set the dwell with a meter, I use a remote starter switch with the cap off and that is faster. Set dwell, set timing and set idle in that order. idle is a little high, 630 rpm

    5.7 omc stalling while shifting

well now that you know how to adjust it you can retard it slightly and see if that affects that noise, like from 8*-->6* see if that helps. The issue is the more you retard it the more power you lose. So I run mine right at the spec of 6* for the 4.3 and run high octane gas. A lot of people...

Bad Experience with Mercury and Bass Pro.....

did they register the warrantee with Mercury? that's what I'd want to know right away we bought a Suzuki DF 2.5 from a dealer and the trouble we did have was covered under warrantee.

    5.7 omc stalling while shifting

check fuel mixture, inspect spark plugs look at center electrode insulator, are they blistered white, if so fuel mix may be too lean I would also check total timing advance. Use premium gas no matter what it says in the manual What is your engine temp? Should be 160-175
