89 Yamaha 70hp two stroke opinion

I like to drench my outboard powerhead and linkages etc in crc marine aerosols , so they are always greasy .

89 Yamaha 70hp two stroke opinion

I might be wrong here but I think that the Yamaha oil injection pump sends oil to the inlet manifolds so that the oil is picked up by the fuel / air mix and drawn into the motor . In any event when starting from cold the motor is fed a rich mix via the choke mechanism . Oil puddles inside a 2...

Huh , I just recall a brief conversation with my ex Dr ( dumped him cos he is an arsehole ) But he was being all pious and sorta lecturing me on polluting old 2 stroke outboards ( not that I had one then ) and how he traded in his 90hp yam for a 4 stroke because he felt the responsibility of...

Yeah , you'd thing a basic carb would be cheaper and just as green , I guess you need to be seen to be green , there are probly dudes that would pass up on a carbed motor if there was an efi one next to it .🙂🙂

    Trailer for inflatable

I got me an inflatable 3.8m, and ss you can see its still in the spare room stage . The plan was to chuck it and the motor in Ravi ( Toyota Rav4 ) and inflate/assemble once on site ,but this thing weighs 80kg without motor (another 40kg ) or other vital junk . I thought it would be an easy way...

Mercury does make mention of "dynamic dampening" rubber mounts instead of a ballance shaft ....probly to save weight . Changing the composition of the mounts probly more effective than adding more, but youd hope Mercury would have optimised them during development . Its one of them things...

    Dissapointed in 9.9 4 stroke

They have 360⁰ crank phasing (both pistons go up and down together )and no ballance shaft so it will dance about at low speeds. You may be able to alleviate both issues a bit by fitting a shorter prop so its doing more revs at the same speed which will smooth out the shaking and / or slow down...

    Removing water from gas

Syphoning the water off the bottom is less messy . I just tilt the container so one corner is lowest and stick the hose into the corner . Syphon into a clear container so you can see when the water runs out and you start getting fuel . Piece of cake 🙂

This doesn’t look right to me

What? nyloc nuts or the prop falling off 😁 Tbh it was a small older VP outboard and I think the prop was held on by a split pin not a nut

Yeah you'd think , but thats a nyloc nut and they do work so I guess it comes down to what your used to. If your going to used nyloc nuts you really should used them once only .
