    Checked the flywheel key ?-----Replaced water pump impeller ?----Tested the overheat horn ?----Checked fuel pump diaphragm ?-----Yes , those compression numbers are near normal for that motor.

    Stop--Has this motor sat for 30 years ??-----I believe you can look through inspection hole in flywheel.-----Look for cracked coils.---Or just take the flywheel off ( 3 bolt puller ) time to inspect coils , clean and set points and install new condensers.

    Overheat.----No oil ( VRO engines )----Low oil in the tank.-----High vacuum ( fuel restriction ) on those equipped with that.

    Some buzzers have a wee electronic board.-----Sound for 2 seconds when key is turned on.----Then are supposed to turn off.

    Step #1 for a misbehaving motor is a compression test.-----Post the actual numbers here.

    Some will argue------I would take the starter apart for cleaning / inspection / ohm check on the armature.-----Should read infinity on a digital meter.-----If flywheel spins slow there will not be a spark generated.----All the cranking damages these starters !

    Parts for these units used to be expensive.----Not much call for them today.----One site appears to have this stuff at half price.----Wanting to clear them put I guess.----I used to work on these on a regular basis years ago.---Not too much lately.----Have a number of parts motors on hand.

    I would take the lower unit off.----Inspect the shift wire.----It may have been tampered with.
