    2005 J115PLSOR weird oil leak

Where is that stuff possibly coming from? Fuel system is tight all the way up to carbs, floats set right (I think - manual calls for 1 1/16...1 1/8in or 17... 28 mm (sic) drop). Does not look like fresh fuel anyway; more like 2-stroke like mix that's been sitting for a while. Thoughts? Thank y'all!

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

Stupid saga continues. Looks like someone has been messing with reeds, because one of the shims is missing. I wonder if they have already been flipped, because the tip seems to lie flat against the reed block, but the mid-section shows a gap.

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

I am at the end of my rope, because this is the only thing in intake I did not mess with (OK, primer, but that should not blow the connector lines off) - and I am pretty confident in the carbs.

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

Pulled the reed blocks. Reeds look OK (no obvious wear), but if I shine a light down intake, there are visible gaps - not very consistent petal to petal. Thoughts? Thanks!

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

So I was misinformed on that; fuel IS supposed to flow aft (so that bearings stay lubed even if one of the carbs runs lean, I imagine?), and check valves are operational. But what could possibly cause overpressure that blew the lines off?

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

You might be right. Gentle suction on priming line (solenoid not energized) gave me a squirt of gas, but only on one cylinder bank. How do I properly check for that?

Too much even for 2-stroke, IMO

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

I hope it does. Just ordered one. Surprisingly cheap, but a pain to find. No, but after a minute it sort of gets to what I expect to be normal for a 2-stroke.

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

Is there a useful diagram of those connections out there? Solis manual is not too much help. Too much even for a 2-stroke, IMO. I can shoot a picture, I imagine.

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

    1. Pulse 2. Not likely. Old VRO was leaking into pulse hose (I think I grumbled about it on this forum), but replacement is only 2 years old, I believe. Did not solve smoke problem (separate, but probably related issue) much, either.

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

Correct. This is a frame from a video with engine running. The line is the same line shown in the first pic, only the other side, and it was blown off its fitting. Based on what I am hearing at the local shop, it is supposed to recirculate excess gas from the crankcase back to intake. So, if...

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

Except that I am talking about pressure NOT in crankcase, but in the intake tract between throttle plate and reeds. Which should be atmospheric or less, because of the sucking action of the case. And if it is ABOVE atmospheric, as stuff spitting out of the tube suggests, where, in your opinion...

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

Didn't think of that, will check next, thanks. It does click as it is supposed, though, and I don't see how it would create overpressure, though.

    1998 115 (E115SLECM) VRO leaking fuel

Mixing gas is a pain, but at least you won't get your engine fried if VRO freaks out. My philosophy is, run VRO while the motor is under warranty, then go pre-mix. There are reasonably priced kits for that.

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

OK... saga continues. New powerhead, redone carbs. Engine sneezes at idle, crossflow line come off fittings (at green arrow, view from starboard), and a spray of fuel comes out of the line. Can't think of anything other than excessive intake pressure, and don't see any way for that to happen...

2005 115 Johnson PLSOR dies at idle

Fingers crossed, I got it. Installed aftermarket non-VRO pump; idles OK now, pulse hose dry, smoke is down to acceptable levels. Thanks y'all for your wisdom.

How do I check kill switch?

You wouldn't have had spark if kill switch were a problem. Did it suddenly happen, or was it sitting a while? How's compression? Try spraying starting fluid down carb throats and giving it a crank.

2005 115 Johnson PLSOR dies at idle

Those are Torx. Six points solid. I am looking for 5 points (I believe Apple calls them "pentalobe") with a center pin. Found them on Amazon, but they might not fit through adjustment hole. I'd go with aftermarket: https://maxrules.com/VRO_04-90.php
