    It is a bolt hole I believe.----One of bolts to hold the block together.---I will leave you alone now.

    That is absolutely normal.-----It is the bolt hole to hold the block together !-----Once you have this motor apart you will see all this simplicity.

    Throttle position does NOT matter.-----You are timing the MAGNETO to get maximum spark.----The timing of spark relative to TDC is automatic.

    A new motor with warranty is a good option.-----No need to fret and get dirty hands.

    Remove cover around sparkplugs.----Replace gasket.----Water out the exhaust is normal.-----Shift quickly.----Do not ease it into gear.----So no " granny shifting " on outboard motors !

    Look inside the boat.----Look for a knob under the oil reservoir.----Turn the knob and see if motor can be lifted.

    On a hose ( muffs ) on a trailer you are not running with a load !!----In gear is still the same as neutral.-----Simply because the prop does not have any WORK to do moving air.

    Timing on these motors just does NOT go out of adjustment.-----Trouble shooting skills are fading away in the sunset.----Huge repair costs at the local shops force some to diagnose at home. -----Turning this or that in the hope of a magic fix is the wrong approach.

    Laser printed decals should never have been allowed.-----Stamped metal tags.----Or stamped on the block !!------Plastic is cheaper on the production line.-----Not useful after 20 years of exposure to the elements.

    If graphics / paint are original your motor might be identified in seconds.----Post some pictures including the cowling.
