    i would be suspect of the head gasket yes, you most likely fried the voltage regulator. there are some 30 amp outdoor power equipment regulators I would be willing to try if I was in your shoes.

    No, they are not the same part number your motor is a GM 454 Mark IV. push rod diameter is 3/8" length is 9.252 and 8.280" the Gen V uses 5/16" diameter and 7.850 and 8.873 the Gen VI uses different length. 8.569 and 7.592 "...

    GM part numbers are not the same for the Mark IV motor and the Gen V motor go to NAPA, get the right push rods

    pull the motor clean the motor outside the boat install the motor on an engine stand run the motor on the stand if you want. or screw together a few chunks of wood. its not hard here is my big block running on 4 chunks of pallet wood
