    Easiest to pull whole drive, however you can weld in place if you want you do pull the drive every year for maintenance, correct? you will need a seal kit

    at 6000 foot elevation, you are down almost 20% on motor power (3% per 1000' of elevation) if you were always at 6000 feet. that is one thing.

    Is the prop same? Did you service the fuel system? Reving in neutral doesn't mean anything. The motor would rev to destruction running on 2 cylinders. Your base timing seems high. I think spec is 8 BTDC
