Knowing which cam is in the motor is what determines firing order
Running the wrong firing order should be detectable with a cylinder drop test
What fuel pressure are you getting? Good doesnt tell us squat
What are the compression numbers? Good doesnt tell us didly
How did the motor run...
You need to grind down to good glass, then build back up.
Suggest you flag your thread and have moved to the restoration forum

typical hull restorations since the prices went wild over a year ago are ranging from $3500-$5000
typical interior restorations are ranging from $2500-$4000
engine work is about $500-$5000
drive work is between $1000...
why not be smarter and install a water pressure gauge. you are supposed to be watching the gauges all the time anyway.
with a water pressure gauge you will know of a problem 3-4 minutes before any over-heat switch goes off.
agree that 4.3's are a dime a dozen
