3.0 merCruiser Max out at 4000 RPM.

3.0's wont spin a prop above 21p just not enough motor there for the 1.98:1 so the 23p is not going to happen the stingray 185x weighs 2200# which is a lot of boat for that little motor.

    Gauges

test the gauges and the sender. gauges like fuel gauge and temp sender read 240 ohms at bottom of scale and 33 ohms at top of scale agreed, a bad ground will cause issues gauges can be repaired, however cost to repair gauges is about 5X the cost of replacing.

    No spark 2.3l omc

did you set the points with a dwell meter? check your connections, you most likely have a bad connection. Start at the battery, work your way up to the helm cleaning and verifying every connection. points during cranking get 12 volts thru the starter, however only 8-10 volts when running...

9.8 hp vs 9.9 hp outboard engines

merc started the 9.8's in the 60's the 7.5hp and 9.8hp motors were 11 cubic inch twins. same motor, different carb. later the merc 9.9's and the 15's were same as the motors got fatter, er bigger in displacement like the OMC product. the 9.9's getting a smaller carb the whole thing started...

    1980 OMC 140hp electrical

you obviously do not understand points type ignition systems standard resistors do not work for ignition systems. no color coding as found on 1/4 watt and 1/2 watt resistors will help you here. you need an ignition ballast resistor which is ~ 1.5 ohms (and about 200 watts), or you need about a...

Looking for Titan Model 60 rebuilt kit - 1" piston

Looking for Titan Model 60 rebuilt kit - 1" piston

if your that tight that you cant replace the whole master cylinder on a boat trailer, boating is not a hobby for you. I wouldnt trust 10 year old korean made rubber bits wheel cylinders come on loaded backing plates. I think the last time I paid under $100 for new backing plates, all...

Does 1990 MCM 350 mag Tbolt IV already have melonized distributor gear? Replacing engine, have some questions..

If you are worried, get a brass dizzy gear. However I wouldnt bother Use what ever pump pushrod you want You will need to rejet, and to do so, you have to read plugs and actually tune the carb ( no such thing as a canned calibration/tune) Run a rev limiter. If you prop looses bite ( coming...

Primary and Secondary Imbalance - Alfadan Outboard Motor ?

not sure what you linked to. however there are many concept engines. most of which can not be built on mass scale. the coats rotary valve motor comes to mind. Koenigsegg's little 2 liter is another.

Could a 4 blade actually be faster?

I hit 41 in a 16.5 foot long boat with total weight in the 1800# range with a 3.0 spinning a 19p prop at 4600 RPM with light chop and only 1 person on board. no way a 3.0 can spin a 21p prop at 5300 RPM without nitrous or a blower. no way a 3.0 can live above 5000 RPM for very long. first...
