    or yamaha or synthetic or ....... you get the picture. remember, you have 3 gear boxes. the intermediate attached to the motor, the upper and the lower. i would split the case, throw in a new raw water pump kit with a housing and inspect the vertical driveshaft (the splines wear and strip out.)

    that is a boat needing a full gut and rehab. the stringers and transom went decades before the floor rotted as others indicated, about $2-4k for materials and about a year of your life any fiberglass boat under $5k is a project boat.

    your non-balance shaft motor has a broken crank you need a new motor why not build a balance shaft, vortec.

    I did riv-nuts and had to cut 8 of the 15 out when i was simply test-fitting the bolsters.

    buy new mounts vs old ones. if you upgrade to a balance shaft motor, you dont need the squishy mounts and can use the cheep mounts

    the problem with threaded inserts is they are the same material as the screws..... which means they gall. BTDT own a pile of galled hardware just from the Salt Shaker restoration.

    depends on how the unit is bedded to the boat. my boat, everything was bedded with butyl tape and the seams caulked. it lasted 31 years prior to tear down
