    you have to remove the drive, then the motor. if you have a jack shaft, you may be able to get the shaft and flywheel housing off, however do not count on it. Welcome aboard.

    then you didnt look in the right location. https://www.mortec.com/location.htm however the 14015445 is the casting number, making it a late Mk IV block i would skip the Gen V and go straight to the Gen VI myself.

    white caulk is a giveaway that something is wrong. there is a transom seal that if intact, does its job well. usually caulk is done as a bandaid. how long have you owned the boat?
