    Agreed & first thing to check with the stethoscope is the exhaust flappers, they can make noises that sound like engine problems. You can also try temporarily disconnecting each belt to see if it’s a water pump or P/S pump….

    2 six gallon tanks should be fine, I was able to run my 4.3 at WOT with that West Marine tank in my pic with no problems. Are you getting the OE tank replaced? If so check out Rob at Raybo Marine on Montauk Highway in Lindenhurst. Does great work.

    They can be reused if they're in good shape, you can use a fuel resistant sealer like Gasolia on it and the attaching bolts/screws. In the past in a pinch, I've used Permatex Aviation as well. Not sure if I'd add an additional filter because it might add too much restriction.

    That's what I always thought, till one year when it didn't. Maybe a good idea is to take off the fuel filter in the spring and test for water in the fuel but with E10 you will not see it till it's phase separated. So using one of the available test kits might be a good idea.

    It can happen with temperature swings and humidity. The only way to tell for sure it to run it on the water up on plane for a while & recheck. In the spring & fall at times I’ll find the engine covered in condensation. The same thing happens under the valve covers.
