    Engine won't shut off

Ok I will look closer to the alternator. I hope it is not bad. Had those rebuilt for a stupid amount of money. Its a tight fit in there with twin engines. Sounds like I have some wiring issues. Unfortunately we had a "good" mechanic wire a lot of this boat and we had to let him go. Too...

    Engine won't shut off

So, I went out today to check it out. From the key, (I) 1 wire (purple) goes to the ballast resistor. The other side of the ballast resistor goes to the neg on the coil. 1 10 gauge wire (orange) goes from key, all the way to the alternator. Also coming off the alternator has a black 10 gauge...

    Engine won't shut off

I believe it is a 1 wire alternator. I will go out to the mooring tomorrow and report back what I find

    Engine won't shut off

I have to assume wiring is wrong somewhere in the line. I will have to go out to the boat and then tell you where each wire is going

    Engine won't shut off

Hi all. Hope everyone is having a great summer and lots of boating. So this is a new one to me. Twin rebuilt engines. (BBC 454s) All new wiring, gauges switches. Basically everything is new. When I fire the engines up, the Volt meter hangs around 12 until I give it a good rev of the throttle...

    Reverse Rotation Distributor gears

Hi all. Almost done with my restoration of my classic dual engine Donzi. Engines are BBC 454's with crusader Vdrives I have run into a snag. We've installed the standard rotation distributor no prob. I purchased a reverse rotation distributor for the other engine, It has different gear teeth...

Shot in the Dark Depth Transducer Compatibility

So my boat has a transducer fixed to the bottom of the boat. The previous owner took the fish finder/ depth finder with him or he lost it whatever. This is the pic of the plug. I believe it was a big screen fishing component. I really only want the simple depth finder like the one in the...

How to remove the cables from this dual Big T

Hi All. Spring time and back to work. I need to replace my steering cables. I have this Big T helm and it has 2 cables. Ive seen plenty of the single cables, but I have not seen dual. I can't seem to figure out how to remove the cables. I turn the wheel 1 way and the cable comes out until the...

    Multiple 260s, 270s, and 280s

So my buddy runs the parts department for a boat company that restores mostly old woodys and classic fiberglass. He said that they are going to be selling off a bunch of 260s, 270s and 280s that were attached to classic Donzi's. As well as a ton of components.

Yeah, I was not sure if that setup from post #3 was standard or not. Looks like I am all set. Thank you all for your help.

    Terribly stoopid question

So I will fill in some more info on the situation. We have always known that one is reverse and one is standard. The reverse has a timing gear and the standard has a chain. The reverse has a front seal that pushes the oil in and not out. I just simply forgot where they went in the boat now...

    Terribly stoopid question

I don't really have a way to run them on the hard. The starter is attached to bellhousing inside the boat. So I know which engine is which. That part I do know. It is which engine goes on the port and which goes on the Starboard side
