    The high speed jets are found in the BOTTOM of the float bowl.----Typically have the #56 on them or similar for 90 HP !

    There is no over heat warning horn on that motor.-----No shutdown switch either.----A wise man would install a new impeller !

    Make a new plywood insert.----Make this piece curved.----Test fit with screws in existing holes.----Might look nice.

    Paint shades on the block clearly indicate that motor has overheated !

    It has had paint work done.---It appears to have overheated at one time.----Fuel pump is a recent Amazon item.

    The 1975 model parts on a 1971 ---WILL NOT FIT.----Driveshaft splines are different between 1971 and 1975 models !!

    ---Up to 72 was electric shift with coarse spline.----73 to 76 was oil pressure assisted shift and different driveshaft spline..----later models were mechanical shift.---I would say it is a NO GO on this one.

    I believe the stator provides energy to ignition once key is released from cranking position.-----Do some testing on the stator.----Electrical issues can be challenging to understand and trouble shoot at times.
