    I had an alpha that even a local shop could fix the shifter. Had to be slop somewhere but we could not find it. Don't feel bad. It would stall engine going from forward to neutral. We restart motor and were able to go in reverse. Going forward it would stall again. Good luck!

    CONTINUITY cable from transom to engine?

    Mine have heave marine grade cables (tinned), which seem redundant since the cast iron block bolts to transom.

    I'd replace the plastic with brass or galvanized. There is a hose kit that replace v8 drain plugs that provides a pretty strong hose. On the hose end is a threaded brass cap. Obviously, you can use gravity to drain oil or attach a pump to brass cap.

    You may have to remove gimbal ring but it aint going to be easy, unless you have easy access in the motor area.

    I assume that you have electric fuel pumps and have the special oil pressure switch wired correctly? Swap switch on motors and see if problem moves to different motor.

    I don't know why MC uses plastic anywhere in the cooling system. I replaced plastic plugs on my CC exhausted manifolds with brass and/or galvanized. I will sleep better.

    Make sure tester is not defective. One gave me false readings due to Shrader valve leaking. I almost pulled head.

    Back in the day, maybe 2-3. I can't remember the boat model. MC big V8s.

    I've seen this happen when boaters jump waves and motors rev high and then boat comes back down (OD) where water jams the prop. Still very rare.

    pull off rams, disconnect fluid lines and see if you can compress piston. Piston/ram may have locked up due to corrosion. I had to totally rebuild all 4 of mine.

    If they are worn out, you may be able to reduce vibration with a homemade sleeve inserted? Cutting a SS hose clamp band to fit might work. Otherwise, I suspect a major job replacing or repairing.     Hum... a picture with an arrow might precisely point out where you believe you slop is located. If aluminum is badly worn on Transom assemble u might be able to insert some machined bushing.
