I have done a couple of automatics. Yes they are fun but it seemed like I always had to fabricate at least one special tool on each for internal snap rings or such. Kept all of them too and they have came in handy for lower units and outdrives.

It is not that complicated unless the races have got so hot that they welded to the spindle. From what I see in the pictures and the short distance hauled I don't think that is the case, First clean every thing up and wire brush any rust. Then spray WD40 or PB Blaster around the races to soak...
