    Wax on

I have done that on my waterline and it worked quite well but not for an entire season.I also tried spreading a thin coat of Lucas red and tacky grease and that held up much longer.I experimented on the transom waterline for a few years. Then I just put on a wider 3m tape stripe.Charlie

Short shaft motor on long transom

I would look into a kit that can be added to the shaft between the upper and lower to lengthen it.I have seen them used successfully.Charlie

    Backdrop eisenglass/canvas leaking /dripping

Anyone have similar leak issue or solution?? Pic is the center portion of my 3 piece backdrop. The lower horizontal seam/sewpoint seems to be catching some rain as gravity has rain running down the backdrop. There is a pretty steady drip on a normal rain, worse on heavy rain.I had plastic replaced...

    Adding a Temp gauge

I disagree completely and always want a temp gauge on any boat I own. With Grady white being more of a premium boat ,I would expect a temp gauge as standard and not optional. For example the cleats and bow and stern eyes are 3x the size and quality they need to be as well as the rod and outrigger...

    Adding a Temp gauge

Your reply gave me the info I didnt think of with the mounting of the sender being different than factory unit.I will stick with the factory plain looking unit as function is more important looks to me.Still cant believe that Grady White with a Yamaha motor didnt make a temp gauge as standard...

    Adding a Temp gauge

Faria is a waaaayyyy nicer looking gauge.Yammy gauge looks like something from the 1970s,thats why I looked for something nicer. Thanks for the heads up though,I never considered the mounting of the sender being different.Charlie

    Adding a Temp gauge

INSincere thanks for the worst ever reply to my wanting a temp gauge as opposed to not having a temp gauge.

    Adding a Temp gauge

2000 200hp Saltwater series on a Grady white Adventure.Never had a boat w/o a temp gauge and I dont like it that way.I dont do wiring so I have a very good Yammy tech that is going to do the job for me.He states that there is a kit for $179 from SIM corp.(gauge, sender, wiring harness etc)and he...

    Engine Flush

I flush both of my motors after every use.My boat is floating from May thru Oct and all I do is raise drives and lay on swim platform and slide the ear muffs on and run the motors for 5 mins each.Reaching down into the water goes to most of my bicep but not too far to skip doing the flush.I boat...

    Next project. Free boat.

I would stick with restoring cars.Way more straight forward and possibly a money maker depending on the vehicle you are restoring. The free boat will only have value to you so you better REALLY love the boat.Charlie

Sealant for rivets inside aluminum jon boat

I used it on a 25ft Chrysler Lonestar that I once had.It stuck to it extremely well.Clean the rivet and surrounding area with sandpaper and wipe with acetone and the 5200 will be permanent. If it starts to run or sag you can put a circle of clay around it till it cures and it does take a while...
