    Sewing machine reco for canvas

Thanks guys,I was kinda lookin to do this on the cheap at first to see if this something I can actually do. I may be terrible at it who knows. A better machine and investment would come after I learned how to do this.I see quite a few old singer machines for sale but no one wants to demo them so...

1983 235hp Evinrude repower pros and cons...

I know a number of friends that used to have that motor and not one of them liked it.Extremely heavy motor ,extremely thirsty and not very reliable. All of the maintenance was difficult to do,especially the Tstats. The mid 90s Evinrudes are much much better ,much more reliable and much easier to...

2000 200hp Saltwater series sounds like it laboring

2000 saltwater series 200 hp 2 stroke.Absolutely love the motor.Recent routine maintenance ,replace all fuel filters including vst and fuel pumps and plugs. At 31-3300 rpms and 18-20 mph engine sounds like its working harder than when I bring rpms up to 35-3600 and 22-25mph.The motor quiets and...

    8'6" Beam

To directly answer your question NOPE.Best bet is a Regal we once owned which was called a 255 Ambassador. It had an 8ft beam .The boat was much larger than a 25ft and had everything you could need.Sleeps 4-6,full bathroom ,convertible dinette and the best part was the queen size aft cabin which...

Bedliner for a Keelguard Type Bow Protector (on Aluminum)?

If you are referring to a spray in bedliner dont waste your time.Keelguard or something very similar would work.Take a look at what Pepboys has for stick on sidemolding. You may see something that will work .I found a molding approx the width of my hand that worked well for me.Charlie

    Antifreeze circulation through engine

Marvel mystery oil ....it is purchased by the drum by local boatyards for winterizing. The warm AF is a safe way to make sure the Stat stays open. The other way is to remove the stat.Charlie

    Antifreeze circulation through engine

I am on Long Island in NY so we dont typically see low winter temps get below 10 degrees. The Camco kit is 5 gallons so it is extremely unlikely that there is any water anywhere in the system. It certainly works for me and I hedge on the 50/50mix and make it a little more potent than that to play...

1988 GM 5.7 stalling when slowing down

I had similar many years ago.Check the Quadrajet filter.Make sure you have a marine filter and not an automotive filter.A car filter is designed to cut off fuel if the vehicle is on its side or worse.Coming on or off plane may trigger same. You will need a slim carb wrench to get the filter out...

    Antifreeze circulation through engine

I guess I am in the minority however I have used Camco kit for the past 30 years and never an issue. Now ...I have my own way of doing it to be absolutely certain the stat is open but hear me out.I have twin 5.0 XL with alphas.rwc.My antifreeze gets stored in my boiler room 48 hours before...

Aluminium hull question - 1968 Stacer Fishabout mk 2

Interlux makes a "cold tar expoxy" .I used it on my aluminum hull and it was a great barrier coat. The name if I remember correctly is Bitumastic. This was a very long time ago so Im sure the spelling is not accurate.Gallon cans mixed with a hardener made a plasticlike coating. You can apply it as...

Any concern using a boat in saltwater that has always been in freshwater?

QUOTE "Bottom line...are there issues significant enough to avoid this purchase?" END QUOTE; Heck NO !!! This is a best case scenario .Dont be in such a hurry to repower.A motor used solely in fresh water has had an easier life than the same in salt.Tilt and trim components are in waaaay...

engine stalls when shifting back on forth a lot

Absolutely !!! The shift interrupt can engage when you hesitate during a shift.I am not telling you to shift quickly, however I AM telling you to shift in a definite manner with no hesitation .You will hear the difference. This sounds like your issue to me.Charlie

    Winter storage question

That is a very good idea.I do exactly the same on my 208 Grady White.Blue tarp lets the snow slide off if you have it pitched correctly. No harm to the 600D cover underneath. However dont be under the impression that you wont have to do any snow removal.Because you surely will.An additional $10...
