Going to a big box store to get a common copper sweat fitting and they don’t have it, but have every PEX fitting ever thought of in the universe.

No issues with squirrels or chipmunks. Piney Squirrels are another story.

    Side Bunk Placement

Off topic, but other forums I’m in have a “location“ field with the posters name, join date, post count where the poster can have their town and state listed. That would be helpful on this forum for several reasons, one of which you just noted.

    Side Bunk Placement

That’s one of the reasons I joined this forum, to get other more knowledgeable opinions so I don’t reinvent the wheel! I’m retiring this year and this is my first boat, except for a 12’ aluminum Sea Nymph I had 30 years ago. Being a Reliability Engineer my whole career I tend to over analyze...

With the longer bunks, do you 1 bunk support bracket or 2 per bunk board?

    rodent infestation

Our camper shed is next to the pole barn. I keep our boat in the pole barn. Uncle Gus is a great mouse deterrent. Put about 6 throughout the camper. I keep the boat covered (do a lot of dust generating activities) and threw a couple Uncle Gus pouches in the boat for winter storage. Not sure how...

    Side Bunk Placement

Will be replacing the side bunks as the wood is rotten. Going through the threads, I saw it was stated the bunks should be about 1” from the hull. Mine are about 4”. I could not find anything on the height. I was wanting to move the bunk brackets from the top of the trailer frame to the bottom...

    Proper Boat Grounding

The bonding wire is confusing me. I have been on ASME Standard committees so I‘m a bit critical on the clarity of standards. Assuming the reference below is actually from the ABYC standard, the committee that wrote this standard definitely needs help on clarifying their standard as in my opinion...

helm wiring, should be simple, i'm not too bright.

I rebuild/semi restore 1950 Craftsman vintage drill presses and some other vintage tools. There is a guy on the garagejournal.com site that makes reproduction decals for all types of items. I have bought a few from him that he made from pictures of the original I sent him with dimensions. Very...

    Proper Boat Grounding

Looked through some posts and some of the links in the sticky posts no longer work after a few decades! I think I know the answer but wanted to make sure. The wiring on my 1998 Sylvan 17’ Blue Fish doesn’t look up to my standards and I will most likely clean it up a bit in the spring and if any...

Jeez! What happened to global warming

I agree with buying wood. If I had to buy wood, I would just turn up the furnace. But there is some type of satisfaction in falling the tree, cutting, stacking, burning and the heat of the fire. When I move the wood from the shed to the staging rack in the garage, I can recognize a piece now and...
