I have to share my excitement

Wow, you got yourself a tremendous deal! Nice when things work out sometimes isn't it? She's a gem, previous owners seem to have taken good care of her. Looks like you have a fun boat ready to go! And a practically brand spanking new trailer too? You got seriously hooked up.🤘 Although its...

    Scissors-like abnormal noise from 5.7

Nice new gadget doc! Be sure to schedule appt with your engine then make it wait 3 plus hrs before you listen to it 🤣 How do you like the Biltema brand? Never heard of them before. Swedish harbor freaight sounds interesting.

    Scissors-like abnormal noise from 5.7

X2 on the stethoscope, really is the only way to figure it out sometimes. Can use a mechanic grade shade tree stick against the ol ear lobe in a pinch too! Doesn't always work but often times you suddenly hear it clear as day in one specific area. Don't forget to give alt a listen, notorious...

    1978 Islander 22 I/O

Looking great, keep cranking away on her and you're going to have an amazing end result here. I like that as you go you keep adding the flotation pieces into those otherwise useless voids. It all adds up to a much safer boat. Prob way less space for fumes or humid air below deck in addition to...

    1974 Chieftain 25 "Adventurer" Restoration

Thanks! And I think you're right, it is pretty toasty in there without those big windows wide open and a good breeaze. I want to do tint and also restore the window screens on the sides for sure. I'll look into that ceramic tint, thanks for the tip! I actually have never installed it myself and...

    Chieftain 24 pod

Thats too bad the foam doesnt hold up well. Durability is definitely important in a fishing boat that really gets used. Removable carpet sounds like a great idea. Snap on for a leaisurely pleasure cruise, lose it for blood and guts fishing. Sounds perfect 👌

    PSA for inboard gas owners.....

Weird how the handhelds are so nice and cheap yet the simplest install it yourself mounted setups start at an exponentially higher price I noticed. I'll probably just do the handheld for now. Do like the idea of an integral sensor with helm console indicator though.. Remember seeing actual...

Uncovered for spring, this is how she sits currently. Interior is still not done but mostly complete.

Railing buttress. Rivets are so quick, compact, light, and convenient. Get yourself an air riveter. Teak plank for Merc morse control clamped. The angle mount I think is mahogany I cut and varnished. Multi timbered conglomorate of a craft for sure. Getting tucked in for long winter.

    1974 Chieftain 25 "Adventurer" Restoration

Some but very little. The winter this year broke records in New England and kept me deep in survival mode the whole time. Didn't manage to get hardly anything done on her since I sounded off last, I'm ashamed to say. As winter approached I mounted the helm and navigator seats, secured the...

    Chieftain 24 pod

Its great that you are in contact with someone who is a perfect test bed for what you're mostly planning on doing. If your friend had any cracking issues with those square plates in the V you could always just skip those plates. I think with a strong new floor and indestructible transom you'll...

    Chieftain 24 pod

Flooring is definitely an option you really feel. What do you think you'll do? Plywood floor or teak strips over aluminum floor or something else? I thought about going with that EVA fake wood foam covering. One of my friends really likes it on his Whaler. Does feel kinda cushy on your heels...

    Chieftain 24 pod

That motor looks like new, very nice. That'd be enough on its own to push that boat nicely if you do decide to run it single. Seems most 24s came with 165 HP so a modern 150 is right in the range. I hear ya on the deep floor gripes. I don't know how people pull big fish in awkward setups like...

I really like the idea of the handheld one you were recommending Lou. I also take fuel vapors very very seriously and realize no matter how concentrated- the point where they meet air is definitely not going to be too concentrated to ignite. How much was that convenient handheld tester that you...

    Chieftain 24 pod

Wow, that Chief looks like a brand new industrial grade fishing machine on the inside! 🎣 Loads of simple flat floor space. Very streamlined. Has that boat pictured above been in the water much since? Interested how the hull did with those square plates welded down in the bilge V. I didn't think...
