    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

On my Chief I have a set of nauticus trim tabs. that Chief also has a big Chrysler 140hp outboard on the back, and along side of that I have a little 9.8hp merc. It took a bit to really bring the stern out of the water. the one time I had the islander out, I noticed the same thing happening...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

As I'm more in the planning stage of future things, I have been looking at the addition of trim tabs on this 22ft islander. I forget who came up with the name, but we call it the Dorm Room fridge due to the overall boxy design. I love the setup I did there, the little merc has it's steering...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Another issue I noticed was with the trolling motor/remote troll mount. seemed a little loose to me. they also gooped up some white sealant over the bolt holes, it's not 5200 but it did peel off easily with my fingers. I can't quite tell yet if the bolts go all the way through, or if they are...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

I need to get a picture of how bad it really is. Yellowing included since that stuff wasn't meant to be in direct sunlight.

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Well, the islander has been fully winterized. it still has a solid 3/4 tank of fuel. So, I'm assuming that's probably like 30 + gallons. Future plan once I have the Jeep back on the road will be to start removing that fuel, and then put it in the Jeep since our other two vehicles require...

    MerCruiser 4.3lx shortblock compatibility?

Thanks! The assumption is I'll need to do some replacing of parts due to water intrusion into the oil. I don't have a picture of it on my PC, but it looked more like Cream vs motor oil. The PO was also running 5w30... I'm half expecting to find stuff rusted, and I'm probably going...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Anyone ever do a 4.3l to 5.7l swap in their islander? Landing on the list of "maybe"...

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

I'm already dreaming about finding that elusive 26ft islander! I don't think they made those into the 90's, I'm not seeing it as an option on the brochure in 95. so probably a mid 80's thing? :p

    MerCruiser 4.3lx shortblock compatibility?

Oh, and since we all like pictures. here is the external crack I found that resulted in some money back from the seller. The Main issue is the water I found in the oil. if it was just on the side of the block, I would probably just run it as is. Poor guy thought he had rivet...

I guess another pro for the v8 swap would be a wider selection of camshafts.

    MerCruiser 4.3lx shortblock compatibility?

Also I'm curious about camshaft recommendations if I stay with the 4.3. I saw Melling makes a camshaft that calls out "Marine" for the 4.3 with roller lifters. I believe this is it: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mel-22119/make/chevrolet Looking at the specs, I thought the marine cam had...

    MerCruiser 4.3lx shortblock compatibility?

I wish my block was good, the engine runs great and the one time I took it out after purchasing I got to a nice 38/39mph via GPS. I bet it would go over 40 if I dumped the high five prop and had it trimmed right. Probably over 50mph if I went V8? Only real change I want to make is to add some...

Lots of open floor space! I'm thinking the pictures don't do the size justice. (y)

That said, I think the control I have needs some repair. I can't get the gear change select to bypass by pressing the button on the side of the handle. future tinkering to figure it out.

Biggest thing I like with efi, the idle air control. None of this trying to rev the engine to keep it running, or to get it started.

    MerCruiser 4.3lx shortblock compatibility?

4bbl carb currently. That also raised another question I had for the edlebrock 4.3 marine manifold for the 4.3, It's not clear if I can use the same carb, or if I need to buy theirs? I also located a "Core" 4.3 out of a 97 S10 for $30. If I get lucky, I might have a donor for the vortec heads...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Messing around with some pool pillows since we have a nice storm coming in. I also need to jump in there and suck out some of the engine oil, I'm assuming I'll want to reuse my pickup tube (if not rusty), oil pump, and the oil filter housing. So I just have two pillows in the front, one at the...

Brings me up to another thought, aluminum block LS? I sure would like EFI... but that sounds like a ton of work.

    MerCruiser 4.3lx shortblock compatibility?

Ok so if I did go with a later 97+ short block and re-used everything from 1994.. I would need to get the later front cover and probably oil pan?
